Beloved NFL reporter Chris Mortensen has passed away.
Mortensen was a staple in the world of the National Football League. He was just 72.
Mortensen made headlines just six months ago, when he retired from reporting after decades in the business. ESPN was the first to share news of his passing.
Affectionately known as “Mort” by his colleagues, the chairman of ESPN wrote that “Mort was widely respected as an industry pioneer and universally beloved as a supportive, hard-working teammate. He covered the NFL with extraordinary skill and passion, and was at the top of his field for decades.”
Jimmy Pitaro continued, writing, “He will truly be missed by colleagues and fans, and our hearts and thoughts are with his loved ones.”
