The ongoing divorce between Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner is getting messier by the day. According to new legal documents, Baumgartner is demanding Costner pay $248,000 per month in child support for the three children they share together – Cayden Wyatt, Hayes Logan, and Grace Avery.
She also wants Kevin – who already pays 100% of the kids’ expenses – to pay for private school, health care, and sports-related expenses. Meanwhile, the child support would ensure Christine and the kids ‘live at a standard somewhat approaching the standard that the children will be enjoying while in Kevin’s care.’
In the legal documents, Christine argues that her husband makes more than enough money to keep up with her demands. She claims he made nearly $20 million last year and their expenses as a family were under $7 million. Kevin describes the demand as ‘highway robbery’ and has nothing to do with the kids.
Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner met on a golf course in 1990, but it wasn’t until a decade later that the two struck a relationship. They split up several years later due to a disagreement about having children, but reconcilced and eventually tied the knot on September 25, 2004 at Costner’s Aspen ranch.
While their relationship started to strengthen during the COVID-19 pandemic, things have gone south in recent months. The couple filed for divorce in the beginning of May and things have gotten heated ever since as her demands grow more and more extreme – evidenced by her recent child support demands.
Just one week ago, Kevin Costner complained that his wife disobeyed their prenuptial agreement and refused to move out of their home. The prenup says Christine must vacate the premises within 30 days of filing for divorce, which means her cutoff would’ve been June 1 – unfortunately, she refuses to move.
Several sources have confirmed that Costner is going ‘above and beyond’ what their prenup asks for in an attempt to get his wife out – including forking over an extra $10,000 to help with moving costs and an extra $30,000 per month for a rental. And that’s on top of the $1.45 he has already given his wife.
Christine Baumgartner Criticizes Her Husband’s Handling of the Divorce
In more recent news, Christine Baumgartner criticized her husband’s handling of the divorce and, more specifically, the way he went about telling their children about the divorce. While she wanted to tell them in-person, with both her and Kevin present, she claims he proceeded to tell them over a Zoom video call.
She expressed her concerns that her children would find out about the divorce from an outside source and wanted them to hear it from both parents, but Costner allegedly ignored her proposal and told the children about the divorce by himself – he was filming on location in Las Vegas when he called them.
“After a 24-year relationship, from his hotel room in Las Vegas, Kevin told our three children that we were getting divorced over a 10-minute Zoom call without me present,” Christine wrote – adding that she was confused at the timing of it all, especially since the Zoom call came five days before he came home.

The ugly divorce continues and it appears Christine Baumgartner isn’t done with the demands. It’s unclear how this is going to turn out in the end, but it’s clear the couple have a lot to work through and they’ll continue to work through it until they come to some sort of an agreement.
