When it comes to summer, give me all the coleslaw. To me, coleslaw is the universal side dish because it works well with almost any food and it can act as a condiment. And this coleslaw recipe is the best.
Throw it on your burger, your tacos, or just eat it plain, either way, you’re going to enjoy it. And my favorite coleslaw recipe is a simple one. This coleslaw recipe literally has five ingredients and they are all to taste.

These are the ingredients you need for this coleslaw recipe:
- A bag of cabbage mix
- Mayonnaise (I like any brand, but that tarter the better)
- Lime juice (freshly squeezed or from a bottle, it doesn’t matter)
- Salt
- Pepper
Now, it’s time to make this coleslaw recipe your own!
First, obviously, you need your cabbage. The easiest way to do this is to just grab a ‘slaw mix the next time you’re at the grocery store. Just throw that into a bowl and grab your mayonnaise.
Like I said, I’m not picky when it comes to the brand of mayo, but for me, that more tart the better. Throw a few tablespoons into a separate bowl and then grab your lime juice. This can come from a bottle or you can juice an actual lime.
When it comes to how much of each ingredient you use, I say to taste! Some people like their coleslaw on the dryer side, some like it drenched in dressing, so make it your own!
Like I said, I love my coleslaw on the tarter side, so add as much or as little lime juice as you please. Then, salt and pepper, again, to taste, and mix well!
Finally, pour it over your cabbage and mix one last time!
