Ellie Goulding had a baby! The “Hate Me” singer and husband, Caspar Jopling, welcomed their first child together in recent days. Jopling posted an update for fans on Instagram Sunday letting all know that his wife and new baby are both “healthy.”
“Mum and baby both healthy and happy,” the newly minted dad, 29, wrote. “Extremely grateful.”

“I don’t ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie’s job. But during this magical and personal moment we would really appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy .. Thank you x,” Jopling added on Instagram.
He also shared a screenshot of a Google search of the “world population 2021,” including an addition of his own.
Ellie Goulding announced her pregnancy in February, when she was 30 weeks along.
“The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality,” the beloved singer told Vogue at the time, noting that she and her husband found out about the pregnancy while they were celebrating their one-year anniversary in August.

“Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human,” she also told the outlet. “I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.”
Goulding waited until her third trimester to share her pregnancy news with fans. She told Vogue that she “needed time to get my head around it.”
“I’ve always defined myself as a touring musician,” she said during a March interview with The Telegraph. “That’s who I am and what I do. Being a mother wasn’t in my mind frame, I’ve never felt any woman had to be defined by motherhood.”
“I’ve been so surprised about how happy everyone has been for me, it’s been incredible to have all this positivity,” she added, revealing that she also turned to her mom-friends Princess Eugenie and Katy Perry for advice.
“She’s been a great friend throughout this,” Goulding said of the Princess and new mom, who welcomed her first child in February. “We’ve talked a lot about pregnancy and she’s been inspirational because she just takes everything in her stride.”

After announcing her pregnancy, Ellie Goulding was asked about touring and when she might resume her performances. She explained that October seemed like a logical time to resume performing and that she would be bringing her baby along for the ride.
“The baby will come too,” she said. “Women make it work, I’m sure I can make it work. The team around me is all female which massively helps.”

“Caspar is going to be freelancing from home for the first few months so it will be just us and the baby and we’ll just take everything as it comes,” she added of her husband who is an art dealer.
