Empire star Gabourey Sidibe and her husband Brandon Frankel are officially parents of two.
Back in February, Sidibe announced that she and Frankel were expecting twins, nearly three years after saying “I do” in 2021.
Sidibe partnered with the popular Instagram page The Shade Room to announce her little ones arrivals.
As TSR reports, Sidibe gave birth to a baby girl and a baby boy. “Brandon always wanted to name a son Cooper, so we can call him ‘Coop,’ and Maya was named shortly before our babymoon to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico,” Sidibe told TSR.
“Both twins have traditional West African middle names after members of my family.”
Back in February, Sidibe told her fans, “I’m pregnant! We thought it was time to give our cats some responsibility so we’re giving them each a baby to take care of.”
“Double the babies,double the cats, double the fun!! Twin Delivery coming soon! Twinty Twinty Four,” she wrote.
Her famous colleagues were quick to offer a hand in the comments section. Actor Cheyenne Jackson, who is also a father of twins, wrote, “Omg. Congrats!!! Gimme a holler anytime. I know a thing or two bout this.”
Actress Viola Davis added, “Congratulations sis!!!! So happy for you and your husband!”
According to Entertainment Tonight, Sidibe called her wedding to Frankel a “wedding at the kitchen counter” during the “thick of the pandemic.”
The actress didn’t make news of her marriage public until a year later when she was a guest on Live With Kelly and Ryan in December 2022.
She then finally gave fans a sneak peak at the photos from their special day.
Sidibe says they “really do want to have a wedding someday but I just couldn’t wait to marry this amazing man.”
