It didn’t take long for Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik to confirm what was reported earlier this week: the on-again, off-again couple are expecting their first child together.
But technically, Gigi was not the first to confirm the news. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, was.
Yolanda spoke with RTL Boulevard earlier this week, per People, and not only confirmed the news but dropped some new information about her daughter’s due date. “So shocked our little secret got leaked to the press,” Yolanda told the outlet.
“Of course we are so excited,” she continued. “I’m excited to become a Oma in September especially after I lost my mom so recently. But this is the beauty of life: One soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed.”

So now we know: Gigi’s due date is in September. That’s super soon!
At this point, with the cat out of the bag, Gigi has taken it upon herself to officially make the news, well, official. The 25-year-old model joined Jimmy Fallon via video conference to officially announce, from her own mouth, that yes, she is pregnant.

“Congratulations on expecting a baby,” Fallon excitedly says to Hadid in the clip.
“Thank you so much,” Gigi says in response. “Obviously, we wished we could have announced it on our own terms but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.”
Fallon then says that the big news is a “ray of light” during these hard times, and even begins to give her some parenting advice, essentially boiling down to “be present.”
“Especially during this time,” Gigi responds, “it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and be together and really experience it day by day.”
Are Gigi and Zayn Having a Boy or a Girl?
Meanwhile, there is speculation that Gigi’s recent birthday party secretly doubled as a gender reveal party. Based on clues from the photographs — namely the pink and blue strings tied to the birthday balloons — fans suspect the party was serving two purposes. Most thought the evidence pointed to “girl,” though considering both colors are visible, it is hard to say for sure either way.
A source tells E! News that the couple is, indeed, expecting a girl. So we know that she’s pregnant. We know the baby is due in September. And we think it’s going to be a girl. Time will tell on that last point, but despite the information getting out a little early, everything sounds in order. Again, we’re so happy for the first-time parents-to-be.
