Hayley Erbert Makes Surprising Announcement Four Months After Brain Surgery

Four months after undergoing brain surgery, Dancing With the Stars cast member Hayley Erbert is back on the dance floor.

It’s an announcement that surprised Erbert herself.

Alongside a video of Erbert and her husband, legendary choreographer Derek Hough, rehearsing together again, Erbert reveals she’s making a comeback.

“What a blessing (and surprise) it is to be able to be back on stage dancing with my love after such a crazy past four months,” Erbert wrote.

“My healing journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and being able to dance again is igniting my soul in all the ways; speeding up my recovery even more,” she continued.

“I am so appreciative of the doctors who have supported me in my decision to dance again and my team of specialists that have been assembled to assure that my health and safety is priority. I cannot wait for you all to see this show! It was so meaningful when we opened last year and now, after everything that has happened, it is truly even more special.”

Fans of Erbert’s were thrilled to see her video and subsequent announcement. “This is so amazing sis, can’t wait to see you back on stage,” one commenter wrote.

Her fellow dancers also shared their heartfelt words. “Amazing job babe! So happy for you and can’t wait to see you shine,” Maksim Chmerkovskiy wrote.

“Well done, Champ,” Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s wife, Peta, added.

In December 2023, while touring with Hough, Erbert suffered a medical emergency immediately following a show and had to undergo an emergency Craniectomy. She then underwent a cranioplasty to replace the piece of the skull they had removed.

“With immense relief, gratitude and overwhelming joy I’d like to share that Hayley’s cranioplasty surgery has been successfully completed as planned,” Derek wrote on Instagram in a past update. “My sincere appreciation goes to the exceptional medical team.”

“Their expertise and steady hands were pivotal in this journey, ensuring a smooth and successful surgery. Especially Dr. Mai who not only performed the surgery but was also the one who saved her life 2 weeks ago,” he continued.
