During their nine-year marriage, model Heidi Klum and singer Seal, whose birth name is Henry, had four children together. However, in 2014, the couple chose to end their relationship and get a divorce.
Now, Klum is claiming that her ex-husband and the father of her children is stopping her from taking their kids to Germany. In her emergency filing, Klum alleged that In her filing asking for the hearing, Klum claims Seal does not want their children to travel to her native Germany because he is concerned about COVID-19, People reports.
Klum also told the courts that although she and Seal share custody, the mom said that the majority of Leni, Henry, Johan, and Lou‘s time is spent living with her. “Henry’s time with our children is sporadic at best,” she wrote.
According to People, Klum is contractually obligated to travel to Germany to judge the upcoming season of Germany’s Next Top Model this coming October. In the years past, Klum brings her four children with her as she films the show.
However, due to COVID-19, Klum said Seal “has not yet approved of this trip.”
In her declaration, the mom of four said that she is grateful to be able to work despite the threat of COVID-19. She also wrote that she is aware of the risks.
“I am well aware of all of the necessary precautions associated with the COVID-19 virus, and would never put our children at risk — I have taken all the precautions for Germany the same way I do in the United States.”
According to Klum, Seal had originally agreed to allow their children to travel with her in April but has since changed his mind. Klum also told the courts that she is willing to make adjustments to their custody agreement should Seal allow her to take her kids to Germany with her.
“There will be a three-week break for the Christmas holidays … Though the children were originally slated to spend this Christmas break with me (as Henry spent Christmas 2019 with them), I am willing to agree that Henry spend the Christmas break with them again this year so that the children can be with their father during this time, if Henry would like this.”
Additionally, because Seal has a British passport, he would be allowed to travel to Germany as well to see his kids if he so chooses to. And according to their oldest child, Leni, she wrote in her own declaration shared with the courts that while she loves both of her parents, she and her siblings want to go with their mother. She added that not only will it be an amazing opportunity but it will also allow them to see their grandparents.
People reported that Seal’s team has not immediately responded for comment.
