A clip released last week from the dramatic finale of Mama June: From Not to Hot (WE TV) showed daughter Honey Boo Boo begging her mom to go to rehab following an arrest for crack cocaine. Mama June and her boyfriend Geno Doak were arrested in March following a domestic incident. Police found controlled substances and drug paraphernalia on the scene. Now, another one of Mama June’s daughters, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, is speaking out.
The family was torn apart after Mama June left to be with Geno and started doing drugs. In the clip heard ’round the world, Honey Boo Boo pleaded with her mom, sharing that she was staying with Pumpkin because she felt unsafe at her mother’s house. Following the arrest and continued drug use, Pumpkin has been granted temporary custody over Honey Boo Boo, 13.
Pumpkin Speaks Out on ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Family Drama
On Sunday, during the Not to Hot finale, Pumpkin took to Twitter to share her feelings about the situation.
“One day you’ll wake up and all of a sudden the weight of the last few weeks will be lifted off your shoulders. You can’t control when that day comes, all you can do is stay strong and trust that it is coming,” she wrote in a tweet, clearly referencing the situation with her family.
During Sunday’s From Not to Hot finale, Pumpkin said she hoped her mom gets it together to leave Geno and get her life back on track.

When I’m not hanging out with my three-year-old and husband in Brooklyn, I’m busy writing stories for Mamas Uncut and managing PR + Marketing for Magnolia Bakery, based in New York City. On weekends, you can usually find me at a local park or playground pushing my daughter on the swings, “researching” the best almond croissants in Park Slope or launching into impromptu family dance parties at home, the sidewalk or, every once in awhile, a restaurant bathroom. I’m still trying to master the whole parenting thing, but I have learned that copious amounts of coffee, humor and humility are involved on a daily basis.
Mamas Uncut is THE online place for moms. We cover the latest about motherhood, parenting, and entertainment as well – all with a mom-focused twist. So if you're looking for parenting advice from real parents, we have plenty of it, all for moms from moms, and also experts. Because, at the end of the day, our mission is focused solely on empowering moms and moms-to-be with the knowledge and answers they’re looking for in one safe space.
