Ike Turner Jr., the 64-year-old son of Ike Turner and Tina Turner, was arrested in Alvin, Texas on May 6 following a traffic stop. He was pulled over for an equipment violation – meaning his taillight or headlight was broken – at around 12:09 a.m while sitting at a traffic light. Turner Jr. had one passenger in the car.
After a brief investigation, the police officers confiscated 1.7 grams of crack cocaine and .7 grams of methamphetamine from Ike Turner Jr. – who was allegedly trying to ‘eat the drugs before the officers could seize them from him,” according to a report by Capt. Q.T. Arendell of the Alvin Police Department.
As a result, Ike Turner Jr. was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine and tampering with evidence. He’s currently being detained at the Brazoria County Jail and has yet to post his $70,000 bail. His passenger, Jessica Salinas-Esquivel, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

His May 6 arrest came just 18 days before the death of his mother, Tina Turner – who passed away on May 24 in her Küsnacht, Switzerland residence. She was 83 years old at the time of her death and had been battling an illness – she suffered from a stroke, intestinal cancer, and kidney failure in recent years.
Ike Turner Jr. Didn’t Have a Good Relationship With Mother
The mother-son duo used to have a good relationship and he was even working as her sound engineer after she split from her husband, Ike Turner – who forced Turner Jr. to stop working with Tina by beating him with a nickel-plated .45 pistol. As of five years ago, Turner Jr. and Tina weren’t on speaking terms.
Turner Jr. went on to work with his father and even won a Grammy Award as a producer on his father’s Risin’ with the Blues album – which was released in 2006. Unfortunately, Turner Sr. died the following year after overdosing on cocaine. He had battled a cocaine addiction for years leading up to his death.
Turner Sr. also had his fair share of run-ins with the law over the course of his life. A majority of his arrests and charges were drug-related, but he was also arrested for shooting a 49-year-old newspaper delivery man in the leg after he allegedly assaulted his wife. He was acquitted of an assault charge in 1982.
