We might be two months away from the MLB World Series, but that’s okay because most baseball fans have been distracted by the Little League World Series – which ran from August 14 through August 25. 

It’s one of the most exciting events of the year for any baseball fan – bringing together hundreds of young athletes (children ages 10-12) from around the world, all with a shot at bringing home the ultimate prize. 

These kids have been through the ringer – first making their way through a seven-month regional qualifier that began in February before facing the best teams in their respective region for a shot at the big stage.

The double-elimination format features 20 teams – including 10 teams from the United States and 10 international teams from countries around the world – but only one team will be crowned the champion. 

But let’s take a moment to set the baseball aside – because that’s not what we’re here to talk about.

Kuei-Shan Little League (Chinese Taipei) went 5-1 to advance to the Little League World Series.

And they’ve been killin’ it ever since. They outscored the Canada, Australia, Cuba, and Japan regions 32-3 in their first four games, and now face the Latin America Region in the International Championship.

South Czech Republic Little League (Brno) went 5-0 to advance to the Little League World Series. 

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go their way once the LLWS started. They lost their first game 4-1 to the Cuba Region and were then eliminated in their second game with an 8-3 loss to the Caribbean Region.

The Japan Region tournament began on July 19 and came to a conclusion on July 22. It included 12 teams split into four different pools – including Ibaraki, Johoku, Alps, Miyaki, Joto, Ehimechuo, Kyusyuhokubu, Miyagi, Yokohama, Saitama-East, Shizuoka, Hiroshima-Aki, and Kansai-Hokubu. 

Johoku Little League from Tokyo, Japan went 4-0 to advance to the Little League World Series. 

They started off the LLWS hot – beating the Puerto Rico Region 11-0 and the Latin America Region 2-1, but were eliminated after losing back-to-back games to the Asia-Pacific and Latin America regions.

Unfortunately, their ticket to the LLWS didn’t last long – losing to the Japan Region 11-0 in their opening game on August 15 before being eliminated with a 12-5 loss to the Canada Region two days later.
