‘Teen Mom’ Alum Jenelle Evans Granted Full Custody of 13-Year-Old Son, Jace

Jenelle Evans was officially granted full custody of her 13-year-old son, Jace, last week. She shared the news with her followers in an emotional Instagram video on Sunday – which showed the 31-year-old mother signing the papers before breaking down in tears in her car. It was an emotional moment for her.

“#MyHappyEnding, ITS OFFICIAL! Thanks, everyone, for the support! Words can’t describe how happy I truly am. Our family is complete now! Thank you, mom,” she wrote in the caption. Jace has been under the care of Barbara Evans – Jenelle’s mother and his grandmother – since the day he was born.

While the video was set to the song, ‘Stay With Me’ by Sam Smith, a text overlay appeared and explained that Barbara is “completely fine” with the decision to give Jenelle full custody – a stark difference from years past – and already has a cruise planned with her friend. Barbara turns 70 years old on March 25.

Jenelle Evans is at a good point in her life as her son, Jace, officially joins his siblings. She’s in a stable relationship with David Eason, who have had their fair share of ups and downs through the years and is ready to unite her family under one roof. David and Jenelle share a 6-year-old daughter, Ensley, together.

Jace, who Jenelle shares with her ex Andrew Lewis, will also be joined by Jenelle’s 8-year-old son, Kaiser, who she shares with ex Nathan Griffith, and David’s 15-year-old daughter, Maryssa, who he shares with ex-wife Whitney Johnson. The family of five live on a humble North Carolina property.

Jenelle Evans and David Eason met on Tinder and began dating in 2015, shortly after her split from Nathan Griffith. By August 2016, Jenelle was pregnant with her and David’s daughter – who was born in January 2017. In February 2017, David proposed, and they bought a home together the following month.

The couple wed in September 2017, but they began having their differences in 2019 – by then, both Eason and Evans were fired from Teen Mom. Jenelle announced her split from Eason in October 2019, but the couple reconciled in March 2020. They have been happy, secure, and stable ever since.

Jenelle Evans Is Repairing Her Relationship With Barbara Evans

Now that Jenelle Evans has custody of her son, Jace, she’s ready to move forward with her life and is even ready to repair her relationship with her mother, Barabara Evans. On Saturday, she released a statement to Us Weekly regarding the situation and what’s in store for her and her family in the future.

“My mom and I decided together to grant full custody back to me because we want to build our relationship back as mother and daughter,” she wrote in the statement. “Also, my mother agrees it’s time for Jace to be back with his siblings and living with a mother and father” – something he has never had.

Jenelle went on to explain that she and her mother agree that Jace deserves to have a father figure so he can start to learn ‘boy things’ and have ‘men talk.’ She added that David has been great with the other children, and they want everyone to get along – like a family should – for the sake of the children.
