Jennifer Garner’s Crispy Fish Sticks Recipe Is Fast And Delicious

We tried making Jennifer Garner’s fish sticks recipe and it was so fast, crispy and delicious!

She has a fantastic Instagram page, but her Pretend Cooking Show takes it to another level. It’s so fun and relatable – she’s not a professional chef, just a mom trying out things in the kitchen. She cooks a variety of foods, some her own recipes and some from chefs like Queen Ina Garten. Here is her Instagram video cooking the fish sticks recipe.

Pat the tilapia dry and trim into stick sized pieces. Try to get them as uniform as possible so they cook evenly.

Create your batter station by preparing three bowls for coating the fish. In the first bowl, mix the flour, 1 teaspoon of pepper and a few large pinches of salt. In the second bowl, crack an egg and mix with a little water using a fork for your egg wash. And in the third bowl, place the panko bread crumbs and corn flakes. Tip: to smash your corn flakes into small pieces, place them in a small sandwich bag and hit them with a small cup until they are smashed into bits.

To coat your fish pieces, start at the first bowl and coat with the flour mixture. Tap off any excess flour, then dip in the egg mixture. Finally, place in the breadcrumb and corn flake mixture and press to make sure they stick. Place each stick on a plate so they are ready to fry!

In a large pan with high sides, preheat ¼ inch of vegetable oil on medium high. Once the oil is hot, carefully place one fish stick in the oil. If you hear a sizzle and see it bubbling, your oil is good! Place another 4-5 fish sticks in your pot, leaving some breathing room. They cook fast! After a minute or two, they will be golden brown on the bottom and you can flip them. Once they are browned on each side, they are finished.

Prepare a plate to catch the fish sticks once they come out of the oil. Pro-tip: to maintain the most crunch, crumple up paper towels and arrange on a plate. This will absorb the excess oil after frying, without having the fish sticks sit flat in their own grease. They will stay crispy and delicious! Place on the paper towel plate and sprinkle with salt immediately. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
