Jennifer Lopez Praised For How She Introduced Her Child After They Performed on Stage Together Again

The last time we saw Jennifer Lopez’s child, Emme, on stage, they were just 12 years old. If you don’t recall that performance, just refer to their mom’s Super Bowl halftime performance.

More than 2 years later, Emme, now 14 years old, joined JLo on stage again for a nostalgic performance in which they performed the same song they performed at the Super Bowl together. While introducing her child, Lopez used the pronouns Emme prefers, which is they/them.

It appears as though Emme has chosen gender-neutral pronouns as opposed to their birth pronouns which would be she/her. While announcing Emme to the Blue Diamond Gala stage, Lopez began by saying, “The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this.”

“I ask them to sing with me all the time, but they won’t. So this is a very special occasion,” JLo continued as BuzzFeed reports. “They are very, very busy. Booked. And pricey! It costs me when they come out.”

As the proud mom continued, “But they’re worth every single penny because they’re my favorite duet partner of all time. So if you will indulge me.”

Emme then appeared on stage where they sang Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years and joined her mom to sing Born in the USA and Let’s Get Loud. Fans went on to praise the famous mom for respecting her child.

“They is how Emme identifies,” one commenter wrote. “This was JLo sharing that information. It’s beautiful to see her supporting her child.”

Another mom said she hopes to be as seamless as JLo one day with her child’s pronouns as well. “I need to work on saying they with so much ease for my child.”

Lopez shared several snapshots from the special night. Emme is seen rocking a hot pink ensemble and a black cap.

They were all smiles as they waited to join their mom on stage. Other Twitter users shared clips from their performance as well.

JLo has not made a formal statement as people continue to praise her parenting. It’s unclear if she has a desire to do so. Emme shares a twin brother, Max, who prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

As Emme continues to perform with their mother, we have to wonder if Emme is preparing a future album as they seem to have caught the singing bug from their talented parents. JLo shares Emme and Max with her ex-husband, singer Marc Anthony.
