In the latest Duggar parenting controversy, Jessa Duggar Seewald is under fire for the number of birthday gifts she and her husband Ben Seewald gifted their son, CafeMom reports. Online haters were quick to comment when the proud mama shared photos of her adorable son Henry on his third birthday.
The Counting On star took to Instagram to share that she is considering a new birthday tradition for her little one.
“This year we decided to change things up — Instead of opening all his gifts at once, we decided to start the week before his birthday and give one gift a day so he would have time to appreciate and really enjoy each one,” Jessa wrote. “This was so fun, I think we might turn it into a new tradition!”

Some followers questioned why the toddler was receiving so many gifts in the first place. “I don’t understand why he needs more than one gift at all,” commented one follower. “Even that is unnecessary because he is too young to know it’s his birthday without you telling him.”
No stranger to criticism, the reality star didn’t waste any time in standing up for herself and her family. “True, he is young, and he doesn’t quite grasp the ‘birthday’ thing. We chose gifts that the whole family can enjoy – not just him – though he gets the joy of opening and ownership.”
“Classic books, bird feeder, etc. There was one gift not for sharing: new underwear. Ha! We try to keep it practical and educational,” she continued. Happy birthday to Henry and here’s to letting families celebrate their little ones however they wish!
