The family feud over John Amos’ health is taking a sudden and wild turn after his son, K.C. Amos, was arrested in New Jersey on Sunday (July 16) over allegations that he sent ‘terroristic threats’ to his sister, Shannon Amos. He is currently being held in Essex County Jail and was seen smiling in his mugshot.
According to the police report, Shannon accused K.C. (which stands for Kelly Christopher) of sending her a series of text messages that resulted in her fearing for her life. The texts included photographs of K.C’s alleged handgun and rifle, as well as suggestive videos of K.C. firing his handgun into an open field.
“Gonna sleep much better tonight big sis,” he wrote in a text message alongside one of those videos. Shannon believes the threats were made in response to his belief that she hired someone to kill him – which she denies – and that he had plans to retaliate. She also claims he suffers from bipolar disorder.
The feud between K.C. and Shannon Amos has been going on for several months now. It all started in May, when Shannon filed a police report that accused an ‘unnanmed caregiver’ of abusing their father – who, at the time, had recently been hospitalized. She claimed he was in the ICU ‘fighting for his life.’
In June, Shannon decided to start a GoFundMe account with a goal of reaching $500,000 in donations – which she claimed would be used to continue to care for her father and secure legal counsel against those who were allegedly abusing him. That account raised almost $13,000 before being taken down.
“To all of my fans, I want you to know that I am doing well. I am not in ICU nor was I ever fighting for my life,” Amos said in a statement in June – refuting his daughter’s claims. “I want the GoFundMe campaign about me to stop immediately, and the funds subsequently returned to those who made donations.”
Not long after, K.C. Amos shared a video on his Instagram of him and his father talking to someone on the phone – John Amos was in the hospital, but appeared to be fine. He acknowledged that he had ‘ongoing issues’ with his daughter (Shannon) and said she’s the ‘primary suspect’ of his ‘elder abuse.’
So Why Is John Amos’ Son Getting Arrested?
K.C. Amos’ arrest might come as a surprise to those who have followed the situation – he spends a lot of time with his father and has had the support of his father throughout this entire ordeal. And while Shannon continues to tell a completely different story, many people are finding it hard to believe what she says.
Nonetheless, it appears K.C. has been sending his sister some pretty nasty threats recently. In fact, Shannon sent her brother a cease-and-desist letter in lieu of online comments he made about her recently. As his threats grew more violent, she called the police and they arrested him shortly after.
According to K.C., who has posted several cryptic messages on social media in recent weeks, this is nothing new with his sister. “Imagine calling the police #Swatting your own brother 24 times over the last 15 years & not one arrest,” he wrote in the caption of a TikTok video – which was posted a week ago.
