John Legend is officially a father of four – and he has the photos to prove it! The 44-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday (June 28) to share a photo of him surrounded by his four children – including his 5-month-old baby, who was born in January, and his newborn baby, who was born on June 19.
“Wren Alexander Stephens, our new love,” John Legend wrote in the caption – introducing the world to his newest son. Wren’s birth, which was done via a surrogate, comes just five months after Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, gave birth to their second daughter (third child and rainbow baby) on January 13.
For those that need a refresher, the couple decided to use a surrogate because Chrissy was unsure if she would be able to carry a baby after what happened to baby Jack (lifesaving abortion at 20 weeks). They ended up getting pregnant, but also went through with the surrogate – hence two children in five months.

John Legend’s Instagram post came just hours within Chrissy Teigen taking to Instagram herself – sharing a long message, a photo of her surrogate, and two photos of her newborn baby. She wrote at length about always wanting four children and how she went from having two to four in five months.
“At some point, early in our surrogacy journey, I came out of a therapy session, walked downstairs and said to John – I want to try to carry just one more time,” she wrote in the message. “We’ve already seen the worst. I remember saying I just couldn’t go on wondering my whole life if I should have tried again.”
Not long after the couple started the IVF process, they met their future surrogate Alexandra – who Teigen describes as ‘the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine.’ She praised her for never giving up and sacrificing her body, even when the first embryo they tried didn’t survive.
By the time Chrissy entered the ‘safe zone’ of her own pregnancy, Alexandra became pregnant. “We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra. And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens,” she continued.

Alexandra, who gave birth to Wren Alexander on June 19, shared a small message for John Legend and Chriss Teigen in the comments section of the latter’s post. She thanked the couple for choosing her as their surrogate and acknowledged how honored she was to carry and eventually give birth to their son.
“Thank you for choosing me,” Alexandra wrote in the comment. “For making this whole experience so wonderful. For loving me and my family wholeheartedly. It was truly an honor bringing perfect Wren into the world with you right by my side.” Her touching comment has been liked by nearly 11,500 people.

While her Instagram is private, her profile bio confirms that she’s a mother herself and a two-time gestational surrogate – meaning this isn’t her first time giving birth, either to her own child or someone else’s child. Many fans were quick to praise what a beautiful thing Alexandra did for John and Chrissy.
