Jon Gosselin continues to divulge dramatic details about his fractured relationship with ex-wife Kate Gosselin after his tell-all interview with DailyMailTV.
Jon claims that TLC offered him more than $1 million to fake his marriage to Kate so that they could continue filming their popular Jon and Kate Plus 8 show. According to the exclusive interview with DailyMailTV, TLC hoped he would stay with Kate for at least another two years.
Jon opted to divorce Kate instead of continuing the show. The couple was together for more than ten years before divorcing. “I didn’t want to live a lie,” he shared in the interview.
“I left the show so my children would never have to relive our divorce. That’s it,” Jon told the outlet. “I could have made millions of dollars if I would’ve just continued, took their offer and stayed married for two years.”
In addition to offering Jon a substantial amount of money, he claims that TLC also paid for marriage counseling for the troubled couple.
After quitting the show, Jon claims TLC sued him or $1.5 million for breach of contract. He ended up settling with the network for $200,000.
While there were many downsides of filming the show, Jon did say that he was glad it gave his children a secure financial future.
