It’s been almost a year since a judge awarded sole custody of Collin Gosselin to his father, Jon Gosselin. This lead to the release of Collin from a facility Kate had him put in years ago for his “special needs.” Those needs were never fully explained.

Now, we’re finally getting some information and a fuller story about the 15-year-old who currently (and happily) lives with his father. Jon Gosselin is telling his side of the story about his son’s pleas to be taken out of the facility.
Collin wrote his father a letter in 2017 asking to be taken out of the Fairmont Behavioral Health System facility.
Kate Gosselin sent Collin away to the facility in 2016. The reality star told People, “I feel like I’ve made an investment in Collin’s future. To know he’s somewhere that’s helping him reach his very best potential has been a relief in many ways.”
This seems suspect now that we know that Kate was accused of not visiting Collin in the facility and then, not showing up for his custody hearing. In December of 2018, Jon revealed that Kate had not seen her son since he’d returned home.
In a letter obtained by DailyMailTV, Jon wrote to his father, “I told Mom I want to live with you, she said no.”
“She can’t choose for me. I’m old enough now, I’m YOUR son, not hers,” Collin’s letter said. “She was abusive to me after I left your house. I’m sorry. Take this to court because … you’re my dad, my savior.”
The letter, written in crayon continued, “I’m counting on you to get me out of here. Daddy, I love you. save me. Please come FAST. I love you. Help me. BYE.”
As soon as Jon read the letter, he began getting funds together to pay for a lawyer. It was time to fight for his son.
“Kate … couldn’t deal with him,” Jon Gosselin told DailyMailTV. “He was alone for three and a half years with no parents, all alone. It was inhumane.”
“[I] raised the money to get a lawyer and went through the courts to get joint legal custody,” Jon explained. He had Collin moved to a different facility to make visits easier.
“I’d drive out to Pittsburgh to visit him as much as I could and eventually it progressed to overnight stays before he was finally released into my custody.”
It’s been almost a year and Collin is living his best life at home with his family.
Outside of the treatment facility, Collin’s been excelling in school. “[He’s] an honor roll student, really smart [and] really intuitive,” Jon revealed.
Jon also has gotten custody of his daughter, Hannah. Kate has tried twice to get custody of Hannah. But, she’s still with Dad.
After all the drama, we wish them the best!
Look at these happy kids! We sure hope that Collin, Hannah, and Dad are thriving.
