Justin Timberlake is coming under fire after a video snippet of his performance last night goes viral.
After releasing his newest single Selfish, Justin Timberlake performed a one night only show in New York City for his fans. During that performance, Timberlake took a moment to address his fans saying, “I’d like to take a moment to apologize, to absolutely f******* know one.”
And while the comments could have been directed at anyone, some Britney fans think it is too much of a coincidence that Timberlake would make such a statement just days after she seemingly offered him an apology on Instagram.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Spears took to Instagram to share the broad apology and hype up Timberlake’s new music after releasing her tell all memoir that targeted her ex-boyfriend several times.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry… I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song “Selfish” ???? It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ??? Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wow ???? too.”
Now, this video of Timberlake seemingly taking back the apologies he made over the years is rubbing people the wrong way.
Warning: The video posted below contains language some may find offensive.
Many brought up The New York Times article in which he specifically apologized for how he treated them over the years. An apology people are now referring to as “performative.”
What do you think about the video? Do you think Timberlake is done saving face? Or do you think he just got caught up in the moment?
