When you’re a parent, it seems everyone has an opinion on what you’re doing and when. Teen Mom’s Kailyn Lowry recently encountered some unsolicited advice from a Twitter follower about her son, 2, not yet being potty trained (though it must be pointed out that the average age children are potty-trained is between 18 months and 3 years of age).
“Lux needs to be out of diapers,” the follower tweeted after Lowry had posted a cute video of her son dancing in his diaper.

After sharing the video, one of Lowry’s followers responded, “I think you are one heck of a mom Kail, but really???? Lux needs to be out of diapers.” Um, excuse us?
Lowry, 27, didn’t hesitate to respond, saying, “Lux turned 2 in August. I’m not going to rush him into something based on someone else’s standards. What works for us is waiting until he’s ready. Not when IM ready.” Her comment was actually in response to another follower who had tweeted at the mom-shamer in Lowry’s support.
Lowry has never shied away from responding to fans’ unsolicited commentary on her parenting choices. Last spring, she posted a photo of Lux sporting long hair which prompted some disgruntled fans to comment that she should get it cut.
“I’ll cut it when he tells me he wants to cut it. But you can mind your business lil momma,” Lowry responded.

Lowry and her ex-boyfriend Chris Lopez shares custody of Lux, though Lowry recently shared that Lopez doesn’t see his son much.
“There’s no co-parenting right now,” Lowry said during Teen Mom 2’s reunion. “Right now, he is just working and going to therapy as far as I know. Working on himself. And I know he will see Lux when the time is right.”
In addition to parenting Lux, Lowry is also mom to Isaac, 9, and Lincoln, 6.
We applaud Lowry’s defense of both her children and her parenting choices and hope that her support of her children’s choices continue as they grow.
