Kim Kardashian has stepped in it again, and again, and again. Her most recent faux pas occurred in March after she made an offhand comment about work ethic to Variety. “I have the best advice for women in business: Get your [f—-ing a–] up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.” The comment was made by a rich woman who was born into an extremely successful family and who grew up in mansions with very little adversity other than that of her own making angered many folks. It’s not the only time that Kim and other members of the Kardashian-Jenner tribe have made tone-deaf comments. In fact, they do it all the time.
It’s all part of a never-ending cycle in which one of the Kardashians stirs up controversy to stay in the media’s interest, thus keeping their family name in your mouth and ultimately lining their pockets. Any attention is good attention for the Kardashians and they will stop at nothing to make themselves seem relevant. That’s not to say that the Kardashian-Jenner family is not talented. It takes talent to continually anger folks ad infinitum. The Latest and Greatest Kardashian Quote
As you might expect, Kim’s words about work really stirred the pot. “I wish I was born rich so I could be self-made,” one person Tweeted in reply.
“I was an editor on the Kardashian apps in 2015 in LA, worked days nights & weekends, could only afford groceries from the 99 Cents Only Store, called out “sick” more than once bc I couldn’t put gas in my car to get to the office, & was reprimanded for freelancing on the side,” another person shared.

Kim’s 2022 Met Gala Dress
“I am so honored to be wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy,” she shared about the dress. No problems there! People did not take issue with the dress at all but they did catch Kim’s comments about losing 16 pounds to fit into it and that’s when folks got mad.
“It was such a challenge, it was like a role. I was determined, I was determined to fit in it,” she told Vogue, later adding, “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”
One fellow celebrity took issue with her comments. Lili Reinhart posted a now-deleted message on social media about it. “To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting.”
On Kim’s Biggest Fear
In an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim looked at Kourtney’s pregnancy stretchmarks and exclaimed, “This is, like, my biggest fear of life.” Apparently, she was not really kidding about it because she would go on to have her own stretchmarks removed. We think it’s safe to say that most people have a lot more to worry about than their stretchmarks.
It’s Okay to Cry, Kim
“I’ll cry at the end of the day. Not with fresh makeup,” Kim once said on KUWTK. Have you ever felt a wave of emotion and thought to yourself, “Not now, I’ve got my makeup to think about”? You’re not alone. Kim claimed that she does not cry with fresh makeup and instead bottles up that negative energy until the day comes to a close.
A Not So Great Assessment of Spanx
In a 2015 interview for Love Magazine, Kim said a lot of wild things but one stood out among the rest. “I always pee all over my Spanx, it’s a disaster. They aren’t crotchless enough!” We’re not sure if this is a common complaint or something that only Kim was grappling with. We suppose it could be the catalyst for her shapewear line, SKIMS.

Kim has also offered her views on social media platform essentialism. She had a tough thing to say about some of the people she follows on IG. “People who post lots of quotes have major issues lol. I can’t take all the quotes in my feed. Twitter is OK but Instagram is for pics!” We suppose this is a diss at Twitter as well but an interesting takeaway from someone who has over 320 million followers on Insta. We guess she’s an authority on the matter.
The Worst Thing In the World
There are a lot of things to be mad about today. Gender equality, hunger, child poverty, and others spring to mind. Not for Kim! “I hate it when women wear the wrong foundation color. It might be the worst thing on the planet when they wear their makeup too light.” Could this be yet another catalyst for Kim to start another business? She launched SKKN by Kim earlier this month.

“I rented my mom a monkey for the week because she had a syndrome where she missed children in the house,” Kim told David Letterman on an appearance of The Late Show. When was the last time you rented a primate? We really have to do the most for the empty nesters in our lives. Wow.

Did Kim compare herself to the Virgin Mary? That’s up for you to decide! “I think if I’m 40 and I don’t have any kids and I’m not married, I would have a baby artificially inseminated. While we get the sentiment of what Kim said, we think she could have used a different example. Kim on Laser Hair Removal
All of the Kardashians are outspoken about their Armenian heritage. It’s good to be proud of your roots and to learn more about the culture your family is from. No problem, great stuff! It was when referenced her Armenian heritage as reasoning for laser hair removal that rubbed folks the wrong way. “I’m Armenian, so of course, I’m obsessed with laser hair removal,” she said. There is a stereotype that people of Eastern European descent tend to have more hair, so it looks like the Kardashian sister was relying on that assumption when she made the remark. Naturally, it angered others of Armenian descent who did not share Kim’s “obsession.”
Kim’s Apology That Made Things Worse
In 2017, Kim shared an image of herself on Snapchat dressed as late singer Aaliyah for Halloween. People responded by claiming that the costume was “offensive.” Kim read the comments and decided to issue an apology following the incident. “Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend. I saw online that some people thought my costume was in poor taste and I am truly sorry if that offended anyone,” Kim shared on her website. “We don’t see color in my home. We were paying homage to people and artists we love and respect — it’s that simple!”
There’s been a lot written and said about the fault in saying “I don’t see color” as a reference to being racially “colorblind.” Most scholars agree that it is a way to avoid actually discussing racial inequality and how each of us plays a role in persisting it if we are not honest about those hard truths.

In yet another instance of potential cultural appropriation and definitely misnaming a hairstyle, Kim wore braids that she referred to as “Bo Derek braids,” in a video she uploaded to Snapchat in 2018. Critics were quick to note that the braids did not originate with Bo Derek wearing them in the 1970s. No, the braids are called Fulani braids and celebrate West African women who originated the style.
Being a parent is weird. We find things cute about our kids that no other human on earth could possibly find attractive. That was definitely the case for Kourtney Kardashian who got a little weird going down memory lane with her child Mason. “I remember one day I was kissing Mason and he spit up in my mouth, and I loved it,” she once admitted. When Khloé’s Khloé With a K app launched in 2015, it featured a video series entitled “Khlo-C-D,” where she showcased her impressive organizational skills. She showed off her pantry, refrigerator, and closet organizational skills in the series. A few years later, in 2018, people with actual OCD began to call her out for the title of the video series, which is, you know, riffing on a very real disorder.

Think again! In a 2018 interview with LOVE magazine, she admitted to being “super selective” about the runway shows she chooses to do and “was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f–k those girls do.” Needless to say, models with fewer means, fortune, and not as much fame took offense as they are simply trying to make a living. Kris Jenner, Momager, oversold a project for Kendall on Twitter in 2019. She tweeted out a teaser of sorts writing, “Prepared to be moved,” along with the very dramatic hashtags like #BeTheChange and #authenticity. It turned out that she was teasing the announcement of a partnership between Kendall and ProActiv. She and Kendall were thoroughly dragged on the platform. “Be the change,” is a shortened form of a shortened saying, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” It’s been used by political organizers for decades, not for skincare.

In an interview conducted around New Year’s celebrations, Kylie Jenner had something to say. No, she’s not technically a Kardashian but we’ll group her in here with the others. While it wasn’t all that offensive except to your sanity the quote did turn some heads. “I feel like every year has a new energy. And I feel like this year is really about like, the year of realizing stuff… Everyone around me, we’re all just realizing things,” Kylie said. Profound!

Kylie is a very, very successful businesswoman and has amassed a fortune from her cosmetics brand. However, it’s not always cute when celebs talk about their own fame and almost always sound tone-deaf. In a 2017 interview, she claimed that her fame was making her “insane.” This is problematic on its own but let’s continue. “I for sure didn’t choose this life, but I’m not going to say that I’m totally innocent because I am keeping up this lifestyle,” the mogul said. “I know I’m making myself more famous by having an Instagram, and posting photos, but I’m not that type of person where I want all the attention.”

In May of 2019, Kim decided to share images of her newborn Psalm with the world. She posted a picture of her fourth child sleeping in a crib that was decked out in tons of padding and blankets. Kim immediately received backlash because having that much padding can be dangerous for infants. According to Women’s Health, too much padding puts babies at risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrom or SIDS. The pressure was so great that Kim deleted the Instagram post, but the tweet still exists.
Khloé’s Calorie Counting Kontroversy
Khloé Kardashian took some heat for posting a photo of daughter True Thompson with cousin Chicago (Kim’s daughter) in August of 2019. She captioned the photo to make it look like a conversation between the two kids, “Chi: I heard my mama say ‘vacation calories don’t count’ True: Don’t tell me twice Chi.”

Kylie did not confirm if the diamond was indeed for her daughter, but in the video, the ring is fitted to a baby finger and you can hear Kylie say her daughter’s name, “Stormi!” There’s a baby cooing in the background, presumably pleased with her new rock. Kourtney’s Climate Crusade and Healthy Food Kontroversy
Mom-of-three Kourtney Kardashian is committed to living a healthy lifestyle, and she teaches her kids the importance of healthy choices as well. But, she bumped into some controversy after advocating for healthier food and banning single-use plastics at the school her children attend.
She wrote to the school with her concerns, “It’s common knowledge these days that food is fuel. When it comes to my kids’ schools, seeing what kind of meals and snacks are provided can be unsettling … processed foods, less than fresh, inorganic produce, etc. But as moms, it’s in our power to raise some awareness and rally for healthier options.”
Comments online flew in as people criticized her for her extravagant lifestyle and hypocrisy. “The irony of fighting against single-use plastic when using a stretch SUV to take children to a birthday party,” one person wrote.

It was time for a little controversy for Kim and Kanye West this past Christmas. As an extremely wealthy and glamorous family, we expect nothing less than from the yearly Kardashian Christmas card. However, the world was stunned when Kim, Kanye, and their four children were pictured in grey sweats, sitting in a stark, white stairwell.
If the drab image wasn’t enough to stir up some controversy, the revelation that not all of the kids actually sat for the photo sure was. Probably the most recent controversy on the list comes from none other than Rob Kardashian. Rob and Blac Chyna share a 3-year-old named Dream. However, much of Rob and Chyna’s co-parenting relationship has been embroiled in controversy. There have been multiple reports suggesting that Rob is attempting to get primary custody of his daughter. A source told People that Rob is concerned about Chyna’s parenting and her behavior around their daughter.
The source said, “Chyna has never been a model mom. Rob and the family always had issues with her and how she is parenting Dream. But as Dream is growing up, it’s becoming more clear that there needs to be huge changes in Chyna’s behavior and how she parents Dream.”
Many people in the family, and especially Khloé who signed on to the court filing, don’t believe Blac Chyna is a fit parent.
Kendall’s Mom-Ranking Kontroversy
Kendall Jenner stirred the pot and made things a bit tense between the moms in her family after appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden and participating in a segment called “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts.” She was asked by the late-night host to rank the parents in her family from best to worst or drink some1,000-year-old egg nog. She should probably have drunk the egg nog, but instead, she waded into the warm waters of controversy.
Kendall said that Rob was the best parent, followed by Khloe, Kim, Kylie and then Kourtney. Naturally, Kourtney was offended by this and though she never said so on the record, Kim did talk about it to Ellen DeGeneres. In an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Kim said, “I completely understood that Kourtney was sensitive about that because she’s an amazing parent, so Kendall just should’ve drank or eaten a tarantula. Whatever she had to do.”
Kendall is the only Kardashian-Jenner kid who isn’t herself a parent.

This past Christmas the Kardashians went big! As we told you, a baby got a diamond ring, so it’s conceivable that Queen Kim got her children some extravagant gifts as well. She did! And according to reporting by People, Kim purchased North a jacket and hat worn by Michael Jackson. The jacket was reportedly worn by Jackson while he was attending the late Liz Taylor‘s 65th birthday party. The hat, Kim said, was the hat he wore during the Smooth Criminal music video. Nice haul, right?
The reporting about Kim’s gifts took a turn, however, when Refinery29 tweeted that Kim also purchased the shirt John F. Kennedy was wearing when he was assassinated. Yes, they tweeted a report that Kim bought her child a bloody shirt for Christmas. Kim wasn’t having it and tweeted back “WOW this is obviously fake! @Refinery29 I did not get JFK’s shirt. That is a sick joke that someone tweeted as a fake IG story that I never posted.”
Kim put an end to that controversy rather quickly.
Kim’s Morning Sickness Kontroversy
If you’ve watched one of the latest seasons of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, you know that Kim has had difficult pregnancies. In 2015, she decided to capitalize on the fact that she’d had severe morning sickness. She started a paid partnership with a morning sickness drug called, Diclegis. She posted to Instagram about the drug and how much it helped her during her pregnancies, but she left out some pretty important information, the side effects and that it was a paid ad.
The FDA got involved, issuing a letter that called out Kim’s post for failing to “communicate any risk information associated” with the use of Diclegis and suggesting the drug was safer than it is. Kim deleted the post. Then, reposted it with the side-effects copy/pasted into the caption and the #Ad. Fans were not having it, noting that in 2017 when Kim was not pregnant, she still posted about the drug. Doctors were alarmed also and questioned the drug’s effectiveness.
“I’ve been looking into [Diclegis] [for the] last five years and found no good reason to prescribe this medication over others,” family physician and researcher Nav Persaud told the Washington Post. “Astonishingly, I’ve found the study that is supposed to be the basis of the claim this medication is effective is problematic.”
Kourtney’s Sexy Photo Shoot with Her Son Kontroversy
Now, this isn’t too terribly controversial, but it made the list because this photo came on the heels of a pretty significant one, which we’ll discuss next. Kourtney shared a sexy photo of herself in a bikini at the beach. She captioned the photo, “photo by Mason.” Mason Disick is her son and was 8-years-old at the time he snapped the photo. People who found that fact Kourtney’s son took the photo “scandalous” kind of told on themselves because it’s rather harmless.
What gave this tiny controversy some legs was the fact that Kim shared a topless photo of herself taken by her then 4-year-old, North, just days before. Kardashian watchers thought that Kourtney might have been trying to take some of the heat for Kourtney or “normalize” children’s exposure to nudity. Again, we don’t see anything wrong here.

In February of 2018, Kim’s daughter, North was just 4-years-old. Kim shared a photo on Instagram of herself with her bra undone and her arms in front of her breasts. For some, it was a step too far. When the photo was first posted, people were confused because it wasn’t apparent that the child behind the flash in the photo was indeed Kim’s daughter. Rumors swirled until this controversy hit its peak and it was revealed that North was the child in the picture.
BET did a great job compiling people’s outrage-tweets. “Kim Kardashian got North taking her thirst traps I’m screaming,” one person tweeted. The faux outrage rolled in and Kim deleted the post from her Instagram.
Kourtney’s Daughter’s Eyes Kontroversy
Kourtney’s ex, Scott Disick with whom she co-parents her children, got embroiled in some controversy after sharing a photo with his daughter, Penelope. Penelope, 6-years-old, is pictured next to her father pulling at her eyelids. You might not see anything wrong with this, but many people noticed that Scott and Penelope were in a Japenese restaurant.
People hit the comment section and left their opinions saying that Penelope’s gesture was racist. Many couldn’t believe that Scott let his daughter behave in such an offensive way. “I’m Asian and that was racist,” wrote one fan. “She must have seen someone do it to think it’s okay,” another added. A third called Penelope’s behavior “inappropriate” and scolded the reality TV star for not correcting his child.
Scott captioned the photo, “Best first date of 2019.” We wonder if he read the comments.
Khloé Using Her Daughter as an Accessory Kontroversy
Shortly after the ‘calorie counting’ controversy and surrounding another photo from the same vacation, Khloé was piled on by fans for treating her daughter like an “accessory.” Khloé posted a photo to her Instagram of herself holding her daughter, True. They had been swimming with the pigs, which is a tourist attraction in the Bahamas. Khloé captioned the photo, “True is still processing how she feels about the pigs. I think the other pigs are still sleeping. It’s early.”
One person decided to pass judgment in the comments writing, “U do know that your baby isn’t an accessory, right?” The troll was referring to how Khloé dresses her daughter in matching outfits and posts numerous photos of her. In the photo, Khloé and True are wearing matching bathing suits.
Khloé didn’t let the comment slide. She responded, “Would you like a parent NOT to create memories and traditions with their child? Would you like someone else to watch my child and me do these things on my own? I am her mother and we will celebrate life together everyday. True and I are creating magical memories TOGETHER FOREVER.”

There’s probably no better example of the mom-shaming that the Kardashians face than this ‘controversy.’ Kim shared a sweet moment between herself and 6-year-old daughter, North locking their fingers together, adding the caption “Pinky swear we’re besties for life!!!”
You might see nothing wrong with this picture and you’d be right. But, some people took offense with the earrings North wears in the photo. “Kim ur letting ur daughter wear hoops that big what the helll . . . she has grown up to [sic] fast,” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “Wow!!! Sad!!! That little girl will never be a little girl,” another said.
It didn’t stop there. “So cute but my daughter WOULD NEVER be wearing those big hoop earring at such a young age come on mama keep your baby girl humble ! some beautiful diamond stubs fit so much better on a young girl,” another user commented on the photo.
The condemnation and faux outrage were overblown. But, alas, it was a controversy and we even wrote about it here.
Kim’s Bathtime Photo Kontroversy
In May of 2018, Kim got in some hot water when she shared a photo of North and Saint taking a bath together. The completely innocent photo of Kim’s young children enjoying bathtime made some people on Instagram very upset. In the now-deleted post, Kim captioned the photo of North hugging Saint, “My babies.”
The comment section got very heated. Someone wrote, “You’re a horrible mom. These are kids child molesters are touching themselves when they see this.”
Another wrote, “I think it’s a little inappropriate to post a picture of a little girl showing her chest??? Smh.”
Who knew such an innocent image could spark such outrage? But, after receiving tons of negative comments and some news coverage, Kim deleted the post.
Kim and Kanye’s Fight Over North’s Makeup Kontroversy
Kim not only has to take criticism from the internet, but she also has to contend with the whims of her eccentric husband. In September of 2019, it was revealed that Kim and daughter, North were experimenting with makeup until Kanye shut it down.
“I’d let her wear — you know, she has a little red for Christmas — I’d let her wear a red lip, or I’d her do one pop of something,” said Kim, who was being interviewed E! News during her KKW x WINNIE makeup collaboration dinner. “I’d let her, if she’s wearing a black dress, a black lip.”
“So, I kind of got in trouble for that,” she said of West’s reaction to seeing the makeup on his daughter. “So, it’s now no more makeup.”
As of November 2019, the battle was still raging on and fans had opinions about how young is too young for makeup. For many, it was more controversial that Kanye would be so opposed to his daughter playfully wearing makeup considering he married into a family of beauty moguls and hyper-image-conscious superstars.
Kourtney’s Son’s Long Hair Kontroversy
Another day, another controversy for the Kardashian mamas. Kourtney shared some pictures from a weekend away with her family, including a picture of her son Reign sporting long hair. In the Instagram post, Reign is pictured happily hanging out with a horse and having fun exploring nature. What’s so controversial? For some, the young boy’s long hair.
Kourtney gets mom-shamed for some really inconsequential things, this is probably the most ridiculous. Commenters decided they needed to tell Kourtney about their disapproval saying that she, “really needs to cut his hair.”
Luckily this time, Kourtney clapped back, replying to the comment, “She really needs to not worry about kids that aren’t her own. He is a happy boy.”
Kim’s Unhappy Pregnancy Kontroversy
In 2015, Kim was pregnant with her second child, Saint and she got raked over the coals for discussing how difficult the pregnancy was for her. Kim wrote at the time, “I’m gonna keep it real: For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL. I don’t enjoy one moment of it and I don’t understand people who enjoy it. My mom and Kourtney clearly did! More power to them but I just don’t relate!”
This didn’t land well for many, and People did a great job of compiling some of the blowback. Folks were none too happy.
“Oh she is such a self centered twit. She complained about not being able to conceive now she is saying being pregnant is the worst experience of her life? Do us a favor and just shut up,” one person wrote.
“This loser troll had the nerve to say that ‘pregnancy is the worst experience in her life’….then went on tv telling everyone she had trouble conceiving. Kim does not care about anyone except herself, including North or the baby to come. How disgusting and trashy this family is,” another added.
Totally proportional and rational responses, right? Of course not, but when is the internet ever fair to moms? Joke’s on the haters, because Kim now has a beautiful child after all that.
Kylie’s Ear Piercing Kontroversy
Here’s another silly Kardashian-Jenner controversy about earrings. In 2018, Kylie posted a video of herself and 5-month-old daughter, Stormi to her Instagram. The sweet video caused a stir after people noticed that Stormi’s ears had been pierced. Many parents have many opinions about when it’s appropriate to pierce their children’s ears.
One person tweeted about the controversy, “Not to be fake deep this early but don’t you think it’s weird that we subject infants to the pain of a ear piercing purely for gender identification.”
Kylie did have one celebrity defender. Perez Hilton tweeted, “So many anglo-Americans freak out over babies getting their ears pierced. SO COMMON for Latinas!”

Kim’s Placenta Kontroversy

For some mothers, eating the placenta after giving birth is a bit controversial. Not for Kim Kardashian! In 2015, Kim tweeted a photo of her placenta, in pill form, and people kind of freaked out over it. Most moms aren’t literally eating the placenta like they would a meal (no judgment if that’s your thing). Instead, many take the placenta in the form of a pill, which is what Kim did after the birth of Saint. It’s called placenta encapsulation.
Eating the placenta is controversial because eating something from your body is a bit scary to think about. But, many claim there are many health benefits, like curing postpartum depression and easier breastfeeding experience. Kim was in this camp writing at the time, “I really didn’t want the baby blues and thought I can’t go wrong with taking a pill made of my own hormones—made by me, for me. I started researching and read about so many moms who felt this same way and said the overall healing process was so much easier.”
There’s no scientific evidence that eating the placenta has health benefits. But, Kim endorsed it on her blog. The post has since been removed.
That concludes the list of the 20 craziest Kardashian-Jenner parenting controversies. It’s easy to see that most of these “controversial” events were merely the result of mom-shaming. However, the Kardashians and Jenners constantly find themselves embroiled in controversy. It’s almost as if, it’s part of their brand.
