Kate Middleton shared a rare personal photo of Prince William and her three kids have been isolating amid the pandemic.
On June 21, just ahead of Prince William’s 38th birthday, the mother of three shared a series of photos on Instagram that she took of Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2.
And while the first photo shared was a standard posed family shot of the four of them, she also included two candid photos of the kids piling up over their dad.
William is “enjoying his children and having that extra time with them,” a source close to the royal household tells PEOPLE.
Kate, an amateur photographer, is getting more familiar with being behind the camera to take photos of her family. Typically, she shoots her kids’ portraits each year and releases them to the public on their birthdays.
That being said, usually, they are more posed and slightly more formal.
The photos shared on William’s birthday show him in full-dad mode and sweetly playful with his young kids.
The photos reveal “the realities of family life, of coping with rambunctious kids and relaxing with them and having time with them,” the source adds.

And in the past few months, the family has had plenty of time to bond.
“They are spending more time together than they would normally, and they are having to do more with the children than they usually would,” says the source.
“They still have help at home, but they are doing more.”
