Katy Perry will soon have her very own “California Gurl.” The singer and American Idol co-host announced over the weekend that she and fiancé Orlando Bloom are expecting a baby girl.
The couple announced that they were expecting last month, and just this past weekend revealed that their baby-to-be is a girl.

On Saturday, April 4, Perry shared a photo of Bloom with her Instagram followers in which Bloom’s face is smeared with pink frosting. “It’s a girl,” the simple caption reads.
Of all the gender reveal ideas, this one was at least one of the safer (and more delicious) options.

A source tells People, “They are both so excited about having a baby. They are also ecstatic that it’s a girl. They love that they have this amazing, positive thing to focus on right now. It’s such a happy distraction for them.”
Perry recently said that she was hoping for a girl. Glad that worked out for her!
As part of her initial announcement that she is pregnant, Perry dropped a new song “Never Worn White” with a music video in which she debuted her baby bump.
She also said that her due date was sometime this summer, though she did not elaborate further. At the time, she seemed to imply new music — an album, perhaps — would be coming around the same time as baby.
Perry and Bloom had planned to wed early this summer in Japan, but they have postponed their wedding due to the ongoing pandemic and social distancing measures being taken at home and abroad.
They became engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019 after dating, on-and-off, for several years before that.
