You might not know who Claudia Conway is, yet, but if you pay attention to the news you certainly know who her mother is. Claudia is the daughter of Kellyanne Conway, a counselor for President Donald J. Trump.
So why exactly are we talking about Kellyanne’s 15-year-old daughter? Well, she is becoming quite the TikTok star thanks to her anti-Trump related videos. Yes, you read that correctly, the daughter of one of the president’s counselors is becoming TikTok famous due do her distrust of President Trump.
In an interview with Insider, Claudia opened up about her and her mother’s relationship and how TikTok has affected that relationship. “My family is a political family,” she told Insider as her father, George Conway, lawyer and conservative columnist—who also distrusts Trump—sat next to her.
However, despite growing up in a conservative household, it was important for Claudia to start educating and thinking for herself. “I grew up in a very very conservative family, so I was only exposed to those views for a very long time. I decided to educate myself and think for myself.”
According to Insider, when Claudia first became making videos on social media that were “largely apolitical.” But as the 2020 elections grew near, Claudia started to change her tune on TikTok and focusing mainly on current events going on in America.
Despite her family being largely conservative, Claudia Conway identifies as a leftist and a liberal. And she doesn’t expect that to change.
And because many of her videos are aimed at Trump, Claudia admits that she and her family “do get into arguments a lot — I’m not going to lie,” she added of her family dynamic. “My mom is my best friend but we do fight all the time over politics, and I’m always shut down by my entire family.”
“Growing up when your mom is Kellyanne Conway, it’s really really hard to disassociate yourself with that image because people look at me and are like ‘oh, that’s Kellyanne Conway’s daughter,’ she must love Trump. In reality, I really don’t. […] “I love my parents. They are the most generous, most well-educated people I have ever met. I look up to them and want nothing but success and good fortune for them. They are my parents and that trumps all — no pun intended. […] My mom is also a badass. I think I want everyone to know that. My mom is the strongest person I know and she’s 100% a feminist. My dad completely supports what I’m doing and I think my mom does too, she’s just not as open about it as my dad.”
However, it’s important to remind you that Claudia is only 15 years old and still just a kid.
And it seems like the recent fame has caused her to turn most of her social media accounts to private. “I respect everyone’s views,” Conway told Insider. “For me, there’s a certain threshold, I think. Everyone in my family [is] Trump supporters except for my Dad and I.”
“I believe that ignorance stems from a lack of education and a lack of knowledge and I believe knowledge is power. Even if you have opposite views of me as long as you’re informed and able to see both sides that’s all that really matters.”
It’s unclear if she’ll ever change her platforms back to public, nonetheless, her mission remains the same; “to inform people and spread love.”
