Birthing a baby is not easy and no one knows that better than Counting On star, Kendra Duggar. TLC recently released a new clip of the mom discussing her “painful” delivery of daughter Addison in 2019. And, this reality TV personality is not sugarcoating it!
Joseph Duggar, Kendra’s husband, is also featured heavily in the clip. Both discuss the difficult delivery. We can’t believe this couple allowed TLC to get this much access to such an intimate moment. Watch the clip below!
In a brand new clip, Kendra and Joseph Duggar revisit one of the most stressful moments of their lives.
Before the arrival of their little girl, Addison, Kendra had given birth to her son Garrett. So, it was not her first rodeo. From the start of the process, things seemed very different to the mom. Unlike with Garrett, Kendra’s contractions were extremely painful. She was advised to walk the halls of the hospital which she did until her water broke. After that, Kendra had to lay down.
“I was in so much pain, I was laying down and I just didn’t think that while I was laying down it would break,” Kendra said. “I’ve never had that experience before, and it was a lot of pain at that moment.”
Mothers know best.
Kendra and Joe knew something wasn’t right and it was time to call in the reinforcements, moms.
“Joe called both moms, and my mom got there within 25 to 30 minutes, and she was able to help me with breathing,” Kendra explained. “[My mom was] telling me I can do it because I didn’t feel like I could.”
Fortunately, that decision ended up making all the difference, but Kendra wasn’t out of the woods yet.
There’s no doubt that Christina Caldwell‘s presence was a great comfort to Kendra, but in the footage from the hospital, it’s clear that Kendra continued having a great deal of pain and difficulty. She even turns to her husband and admits she doesn’t think she can continue.
She ended up being stronger than she anticipated and powered through. The clip is so intense and you really get the sense that there was great deal of fear.
After all the pain, Kendra welcomed her beautiful baby Addison.
All of that struggle gave way to someone truly beautiful. Kendra and Joseph announced the birth of their daughter in November. At the time, she wrote:
“Addison Renee has made us a family of four and we are already so in love with her! She made a quick arrival in the early hours of the morning and has already melted our hearts. We know Garrett is going to be a great big brother. Children are each a special gift from God and we are so happy our newest blessing is here.”

We’ve loved getting updates about little Addison’s progress over the past several months.
Now, Addison is nine months old and as you can see, she’s growing up very fast. In December of last year, TLC released a preview of the hospital footage and in it, Kendra said she felt as she was “going to die.” We’re so glad she survived the difficult delivery and this family is a happy and healthy unit of four.
