Khloe Kardashian Shares Details About Her Melanoma Diagnosis During Newest Season of ‘The Kardashians’

We’re only two episodes into Season 3 of ‘The Kardashians,’ but we’ve already been met with quite a few headlines – for starters, Khloe Kardashian revealed the name of her 9-month-old son and we also saw Kim Kardashian respond to allegations that she had an affair with Drake while married to Kanye West

Another recurring topic of discussion in the first two episodes was Khloe’s battle with melanoma. She initially opened up about her diagnosis in October 2022, when she took to her Instagram Story to explain how a small bump on her face (which she thought was a zit) turned out to be a melanoma (skin cancer).

Khloe had surgery to remove the tumor on her cheek and had to wear a bandage to speed up the healing and recovery process. The bandage has since been removed and she last commented on the procedure in March, when she was asked about the bandage and confirmed ‘all is great and healing wonderfully.’

During the Season 3 premiere of The Kardashians, which aired on May 25, Khloe Kardashian provided more details about the tumor on her face and the subsequent surgery she had – which she admitted ‘was way more serious than I either understood or anticipated it to be.’ And she wasn’t alone in her worry.

Her mother, Kris Jenner, expressed her concern over the diagnosis – especially since this isn’t Khloe’s first run-in with melanoma. According to Jenner, Khloe has a ‘history with melanoma and cancerous lesions’ and was concerned because they had no idea ‘how much of your cheek they’re going to take.’

Khloe went on to explain how anxious she was through it all. “When you’re waiting on results, that’s when your mind can go to different places. You start thinking, ‘What if I do have cancer? What if the cancer spread?’ You start thinking these crazy things. I just had a baby. You just spiral into darkness,” she said.

As for the surgery, doctors were forced to open up her cheek to remove the tumor. “I woke up and I had this huge bandage on my face and I couldn’t move my mouth. I had stitches on the inside of my mouth. This was way more serious than I either understood or anticipated it to be,” she said in a confessional.

Khloe Kardashian ‘Relieved and So Happy’ at Her Recovery

Khloe Kardashian was open about her anxiety when speaking to her friend, Malika Haqq, about the tumor and surgery, but she also knew she had to stay strong – being the mother of two children. “When you have kids, you can’t not be OK,” she said to Haqq – who understands the nuances of being a mother.

Malika broke down during their conversation and began to cry after hearing about her friend’s tribulations. She likened the stress and anxiety Khloe was feeling to the stress and anxiety she felt when her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., passed away in 2003 – which was a devastating loss for the Kardashian family.

During the second episode of The Kardashians, Khloe couldn’t help but express how ‘relieved and so happy’ she was after being told her ‘margins are clear’ – despite learning the cancer could’ve spread at any moment. “All I have is a scar that I will figure out later. I feel fortunate and blessed,” she continued.

In other news, Khloe Kardashian revealed her son’s name for the first time – his name is Tatum Robert – and even joked about going on a date with Scott Disick, who shares three kids with Kourtney Kardashian. Don’t worry, Khloe said there was no chance she would ever go on a date with him.
