Kim Kardashian Reignites Criticism Over ‘Boy Mom’ Comments in Latest ‘The Kardashians’ Episode

The Kardashian-Jenner family have a history of treating their sons differently than their daughters. It’s something that has resulted in a fair amount of criticism in the past, but that criticism was reignited with comments made by Kim Kardashian during this week’s episode (Oct. 19) of The Kardashians on Hulu.

The 42-year-old socialite was talking to her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, about a worldwide ‘soccer tour’ she was planning for her 7-year-old son, Saint West, and his four friends. She expressed how fun it is being a sports mom, but that’s not what has the internet buzzing – it’s what she said in a confessional.

“My son Saint has a newfound obsession, love for soccer, so I decided I want to plan this legendary trip of a lifetime. I love my girls, but a girl steals your clothes and has an attitude, y’know? There’s nothing like being a boy mom, like, seriously, it’s the best,” she said – sparking outrage among fans and critics alike.

As is usual in today’s society, critics took to social media to bash Kim Kardashian and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner over the way they treat their sons vs. their daughters. Many people were confused as to why she would say those things on TV, especially since her daughters are most likely going to see it.

“I think she’s more worried about her daughters stealing her spotlight,” one commenter wrote on a Reddit platform recently. “Well what can you expect, in the end she thinks girls are less than boys. Of course being a boy mom is better for her, because deep down she’s misogynistic,” another commenter wrote.

A lot of the criticism stems from the Kardashian-Jenner family’s history of throwing their daughters into the spotlight, while protecting their sons from it. Just look at the empire she created around her five daughters (Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall, Kylie), while her only son, Rob Kardashian, primarily lives a private life.

The same can be said with her grandchildren. North (Kim’s daughter) made her Vogue debut at 8 months old, Stormi (Kylie’s daughter) started modeling Kylie’s baby brand and now she has her own line, and True (Khloe’s daughter) helped promote her mother’s Good American line. They all get a lot of airtime.

Yet, the same can’t be said about their sons, who live a much more private lifestyle – though Kim’s son (Saint) has been making more public appearances lately. Meanwhile, we didn’t even know the names of Kylie’s son (Aire) for nearly a year after he was born or Khloe’s son (Tatum) for 10 months after his birth.

Kim Kardashian Has Made ‘Boy Mom’ Comments in the Past

The comments made by Kim Kardashian in this week’s episode shouldn’t come as a surprise to those who have followed the socialite (and her family) in recent years. In fact, she made similar comments in an episode last year while speaking to her sister, Kylie – who was pregnant with Aire Webster at the time.

Kim was adamant that her sister was having a boy and explained why. “You’re skinnier this way, you’re prettier than you were last time. The girls take the beauty to give it to themselves. The boys know what’s up and they let you be a little prettier,” she said – drawing a fair amount of criticism for the comment.

Of course, it’s not just her – Khloe Kardashian received similar criticism back in 2018 while she was pregnant with her daughter, True. In a clip on KUWTK, Khloe found out she was having a girl when she made a face and said: “I’m really hoping they’re going to say they’re lying and I’m really having a boy.”

Her mother, Kris Jenner, tried to console her by telling her that Tristan Thompson (who she was seeing at the time) would ‘love his little girl’ and she should too. “Well, then, I’m going to get jealous. I don’t like that, I don’t like her,” she said in disgust. Of course, she later detailed her disappointment in a post on Twitter.

She said she ‘wanted a boy so badly because Mason [Kourtney’s son] and I are so close. I love our bond. I felt confident in having a boy.’ In a separate post, she admits to having ‘more of a masculine energy’ – adding that she likes sports, is more rough than most girls, and isn’t that frilly, but True has changed her.
