Kris Jenner Shows Appreciation for Family and Staying Closely Connected During the Holiday Season

Kris Jenner is feeling extra grateful for her family this holiday season – a family that includes an 88-year-old mother, six children, and 12 grandchildren (two more than she had last Christmas). As always, it’ll be a full house when the popular Kardashian-Jenner family gets together and celebrate.

Like the rest of us, Kris Jenner has plenty of holiday traditions to look forward to in the coming month, but one of her favorites is building gingerbread houses with the kids. She started the tradition after giving birth to Kourtney Kardashian and has done it every year since. It’s time-consuming, but she absolutely loves it.

“I remember taking on an ambitious project once when I promised a bunch of kids I would make everybody gingerbread houses and didn’t realize how long it took to make gingerbread. I was doing it for a very long time,” said Kris Jenner in a recent interview. And she’s ready to do it all over again this year.

In fact, she took her love of building gingerbread houses to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Los Angeles. Along with her daughter, Khloe Kardashian, Jenner celebrated Giving Tuesday by making gingerbread houses with families and children that rely on the beautiful work of RMHC.

It was an emotional visit for Kris Jenner, who saw firsthand the importance of families sticking together – especially through difficult times. She was inspired by some of the stories she heard. “RMHC just keeps families together. As a mom and a grandmother of 12 kids, I really find that extraordinary,” she said.

Known for her elaborate and festive Christmas Eve parties, Kris Jenner is looking forward to spending some quality time with her family this Christmas. Not only did she welcome two new grandchildren to the family this year, but she’s thankful to have her 88-year-old mother, Mary Jo Campbell, by her side.

“You never expect there to be something horrific, like a child that gets very sick and has to have a heart or bone marrow transplant, something really serious. There are so many different patients that we either met or heard about from their families, and they were just so grateful to all be together,” Jenner continued.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities was founded in 1974. They work with families who have sick children, ensuring their needs are met – including providing housing nearby necessary health care services. RMHC makes sure they have the treatment and care needed to improve their quality of life.

“Rural Americans live an average of 10.5 miles from the nearest hospital, compared with 5.6 miles for people in suburban areas and 4.4 for those in urban areas,” wrote the Pew Research Center. Other reports suggest that nearly 30% of families are forced to move after their child is diagnosed with cancer.

With the help of RMHC, these families can rest easy knowing they’re being supported through thick and thin. In 2021 alone, the charity was able to offer nearly two million overnight stays to families in need, which helped save families more than $500 million in lodging, meal costs, and other costly expenses.

“The older I get, the more I appreciate my family and everyone around me; it makes me really happy. I’m happy to be home,” said Kris Jenner after seeing firsthand the many families in need of RMHC’s services. It makes her that much more excited for the holiday season and spending time with her loved ones.
