We cannot imagine the look on Kristen Bell’s face when she discovered that her daughter had washed her hair with Vaseline. As it turns out, the petroleum jelly-based product isn’t so easy to wash out of hair, so the panicked actress turned to Instagram to ask for help.

“My daughter just washed her hair with Vaseline and I can’t get it out . . .” Kristen told her followers via Instagram Stories. “Has this ever happened to anyone? I washed it three times now and it’s not getting any better.”

The Good Place star even shared a peek of her daughter’s head covered in slimy Vaseline. The Frozen star wasn’t the only one who had faced this type of situation before, as her followers knew just what to do.

Turns out, the solution is dish soap. “I appreciate that; I’m very grateful for you guys, ’cause I don’t know what I’m doing,” Kristen said in a follow-up video.

Apparently many parents have faced this exact same challenge, as the internet is full of tips on how to get the not water-soluble product out of strands. According to Fisher-Price, it’s helpful to first blot the hair with facial tissues and then apply cornstarch to absorb some of the jelly.

A clarifying shampoo is also helpful in removing the gunk, as are makeup removing wipes, according to Today. Hopefully, Kristen and her husband Dax Shepard will put the Vaseline on the top shelf from now on so that 6-year-old Lincoln and 5-year-old Delta won’t pull this stunt again.
