Privacy isn’t usually a word that comes to mind when talking about the Kardashian-Jenner clan. But when it comes to Kylie Jenner‘s first pregnancy, private is the only way to describe it.
While rumors swirled in late 2017 and early 2018, reality star and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner hid the fact that she and her then-boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott, were pregnant with their first child. It wasn’t until days after her daughter, Stormi, was born that Jenner shared the news publicly.
She revealed Stormi’s birth on Super Bowl Sunday in 2018 with a long YouTube video that gave fans a brief glimpse into the last nine months.
Despite being one of the stars of their mega-successful reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashian, the then 20-year-old managed to avoid the speculation and photos of her bump from ever getting out, until she wanted them to that is.
Recently, Jenner took to Instagram to share her favorite bump photo from that time in her life. She also took the time to explain how much becoming a mother has changed her.
“I have so many belly photos but this one has always been one of my favorites. baking my little baby storm was such a special time in my life.. I actually became so much stronger and independent throughout the entire experience. women really are amazing.. tag a strong woman in your life.”
The mom of one tagged her own mother, Kris Jenner. Shortly after sharing the photo, her fans began begging her to share more photos and moments from her pregnancy. Aside from the video she shared in 2018, Jenner has remained pretty tight-lipped about her pregnancy journey.
She explained her reasoning for wanting her pregnancy to stay private in a 2018 statement on her Instagram.
The billionaire wrote:
“I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions. I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress-free, and healthy way I knew how. There was no gotcha moment, no big paid reveal I had planned. I knew my baby would feel every stress and every emotion so I chose to do it this way for my little life and our happiness.”
Jenner continued, “Pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering, and life-changing experience I’ve had in my entire life and I’m actually going to miss it. I appreciate my friends and especially my family for helping me make this special moment as private as we could.”

Nonetheless, while her pregnancy journey was kept private, Jenner has been more open since Stormi’s birth. From endless pictures on Instagram and adorable videos of YouTube, the young mom definitely adores being her baby girl’s mother.
