Lamar Odom was involved in a car accident earlier this week when he crashed his white Mercedes into two parked vehicles while reaching for his phone that fell on the floor. The incident occurred at around 3:00 a.m. on Monday (September 11) – no one else was involved and Odom wasn’t injured as a result.
The accident went unreported the entire week – that is until Sunday (September 17), when one of his representatives, Gina Rodriguez, spoke to TMZ and PEOPLE about the incident. She confirmed that he crashed into two parked vehicles on his way home from a friend’s house in Northridge in Los Angeles.
According to Rodriguez, Odom’s cell phone fell onto the floor of his white Mercedes while driving in an LA neighborhood. “When he reached for it, his arm went with it,” she said – adding that he ran into a parked vehicle as a result. The vehicle he ran into hit another parked vehicle in front of it as a result of the impact.

Gina Rodriguez went on to explain that, while Lamar Odom was ‘totally fine’ and uninjured in the accident, he was ‘shaken up’ due to his three airbags being deployed. It’s the same story Odom told police officers once they arrived on the scene – they immediately questioned whether he was sober or not at the time.
Odom insisted he was sober. He said he didn’t drink and hasn’t been using drugs, referencing the fact that he owns several addiction recovery centers in California as he continues to change his life for the better and inspire others.
The police officers believed him and they didn’t require him to complete any field sobriety tests. They stuck around while Lamar Odom exchanged insurance information with the owners of the two vehicles he hit – the damage wasn’t terrible, but Odom’s vehicle had to be towed away, according to Gina Rodriguez.
Odom’s security guard – who was driving behind him before the accident happened – drove him home after the insurance exchange and that was that. Luckily for everyone involved, no injuries were reported and damage to the vehicles was minimal.

It’s no secret that Lamar Odom has a bad history with drugs and other harmful substances, but he has turned his life around in recent years and has steadied himself on a much better path as a result. Seeing how his changes have positively affected his life, Odom is now committed to helping others do the same.
In April, Odom stayed true to that promise when he purchased three addiction rehab centers in California with the goal of saving lives – something he has vowed to do in recent months. He teamed up with hip-hop artist Dontae Ralston and Hall of Fame skateboarder Dennis Martinez to buy the facilities.
All three facilities – one of which is a women’s residential treatment facility, while the other two are men’s detox and residential treatment facilities – will be called ‘Odom Wellness Treatment Centers. Odom has already vowed to be highly involved and committed to helping the patients who receive treatment there.

The former NBA player, who retired the year before (2014), suffered kidney failure, heart attacks, and several strokes – he doesn’t remember doing drugs that night and believes he was drugged.
