Blake McIver Ewing a.k.a. Waldo in The Little Rascals is all grown up and you will be shocked when you see what he looks like now!
Ewing, 36, has been performing for millions of people since the age of six when he won the title of Star Search’s Junior Vocalist Champion.
This launched the child star into a film and television career that included The Little Rascals, Full House, Home Improvement, The Nanny, the Drew Carey Show, Clueless, and many others. Blake has voiced animated characters in films and television shows such as Tarzan, The Little Mermaid II, Anastasia, Recess, and Hey Arnold.
The singer-actor describes himself as a “recovering child actor,” when speaking to Vulture last June.
“You know, I say that kind of half-kidding and half-serious. I wanted to do it, and I had to convince my parents since they were show-business people and they really didn’t want me to do it, I had to push the whole time and be like, ‘No! I’m still in it,” Ewing shared.
“‘I want to go to the audition. Cancel the playdate. Disneyland can wait! I want to do this,'” Ewing continued.
Because I drove that desire, I used to think in my early adolescence, Oh I’m not going to be like those other child actors who were forced into it and they have all those problems. It’s different for everyone.”
“And what I’ve found is it doesn’t really matter. Even though I made the choices and the choices weren’t made for me, you still give up things, and you still develop as a human and as an adult in a completely different way than anybody else. It is the thing that all child actors share,” Ewing shared.
The actor, writer, director, producer, and recording artist also appeared in the World Premiere of the hit musical, “Ragtime.”
According to his Linkedin, “Blake’s love of musical theatre was ignited. Tony Award-winning director, Frank Galati instilled in him a structure for mounting a production that Blake continues to use today.”
“While managing his own theatre company, YMTA, Blake directed a production of Elton John and Tim Rice’s ‘AIDA’ at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center and produced the critically acclaimed production of ‘The Light in the Piazza’ at the El Portal Theatre. Blake is also a graduate of UCLA,” the description continued.
With a background in the creative and educational fields, Amelia Finefrock is freelance writer, singer-songwriter and nanny based in Chicago.
