Has anything in Bachelor history been more uncomfortable to watch than Luke S. getting completely rejected at the Rose Ceremony? As you know, many of the couples had to make hard choices about the future of their relationships and if their romances would extend beyond the sandy beaches of Mexico and into the real world. Some of the couples split knowing their trists wouldn’t last. You might call it touching. But, the real reason we watch Bachelor is for moments like Luke S. getting completely shut down.

On the second to last episode of Bachelor in Paradise, Luke chose to give his rose to Bri. Bri, being new to the show, listened carefully to Chris Harrison’s instructions about only exchanging roses if there’s a legitimate romantic connection. Harrison was over “friendship roses.” Bri must have taken those instructions to heart because she told Luke she didn’t see a future with him and that she didn’t feel any connection.
Harrison tried to remedy the situation by asking if any other woman wanted to accept Luke’s rose. Crickets! No one wanted Luke’s rose and it was heartbreaking. Sure, every person has the right to say, “no.” But, this felt like too heavy a burden to bear.
Could there be more to the story? Did no one really want to take his rose? Luke had some thoughts after seeing the final cut of the episode that aired on TV. He took to Twitter to set the story straight.
The tweeting didn’t stop there, he added, “Just saw it for the first time and I won’t stand by and let that fly,” and, “It’s called a voice over nice try guys.”
To cross his T’s and dot his I’s, Luke also uploaded a video to Instagram that showed the sneaky camerawork. He captioned the post, “I wouldn’t normally care about this kind of stuff, but I won’t sit here and accept this lie that never happened. This was editing- Chris never said this to the group.”
ABC is not the only network playing fast and loose with the truth when it comes to reality TV. But, this did seem pretty egregious. Luke clearly gets shut down by Bri, but ABC did not need to edit the scene to make it look like the entire group disliked him. It does make for great TV. However, it’s not so good for Luke’s reputation. Or is it?
Since leaving Bachelor, Luke’s social media comments and replies make it seem like there are plenty of fish in the sea. He might not be handing out a rose anytime soon, but he definitely will have plenty of dating options.
