The View co-host Meghan McCain and her husband Ben Domenech are ecstatic after welcoming their first child into the world. As Mamas Uncut has previously reported, this is McCain and Domenech’s rainbow baby after the new mom suffered a miscarriage last year.
Back in March, McCain took to Instagram to share the news with the public just as she was going into quarantine to protect not only herself and her unborn child but to do her part to contain the spread of COVID-19. “Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all,” she wrote.

Meghan McCain Gives Birth to Baby Girl
The heartwarming news came several months after McCain wrote an op-ed for The New York Times titled What I Learned from My Miscarriage. “For a brief moment, I had the privilege of seeing myself in the sisterhood of motherhood. I had a miscarriage. I loved my baby, and I always will. To the end of my days I will remember this child — and whatever children come will not obscure that.”
On Monday, September 28, McCain gave birth to a baby girl, ABC News was the first to report. The couple named their daughter, Liberty Sage McCain Domenech.
The birth of their beloved daughter comes three years after McCain and Domenech became husband and wife and less than a month before McCain will celebrate her 36th birthday. While the couple hasn’t shared a photo of their little one yet, McCain took to Twitter to thank everyone for their well-wishes.
“Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful well wishes and overwhelming kindness,” the new mom said on Twitter. “Ben and I are completely and utterly in love with our daughter and feeling indescribably blessed/blissed out. We will be watching her first debate as a family together tonight!”
On September 10, McCain took to Instagram to share a photo of her and Domenech that was taken on their third date. “Many, many, years ago on our like third date. Drunk on whiskey sours,” Meghan began. “Cut to today and I’m a few weeks away from having your baby…”
“Life is bananas and we have been through the most insane shit the world can throw at a couple and somehow come out the other side still in love and intact. It all started because I thought you were hot and smart on Bill Maher and followed your blue checkmark on Twitter. You didn’t f*ck around, slid into my dm’s, and asked me to dinner immediately. I told Josh Rupley the night of our first date there was no chance it works out with this one, jokes on me. Love you baby. ‘Buy the ticket, take the ride.’”
