HGTV star Mina Starsiak has been honest about her struggle to conceive another baby, sharing details of her IVF journey with her fans on social media.
The Good Bones star, who is mom to 16-month-old Jack Richard, has been undergoing IVF treatments in an effort to get pregnant again. She did a first round of IVF a few weeks ago, but that unfortunately failed. She had hoped that she could try IVF a couple more rounds, but she recently shared an update via her Instagram letting fans know that it’s unlikely she will be able to use her own eggs.
“I did get an update a bit ago, but needed some time to process with my husband,” Starsiak said about discussing the update with her husband, Stephen Hawk. “We were told another round of [in vitro fertilization] would be unsuccessful and our only option for me to carry another baby would be a donor egg.”
She also shared that she and her husband were planning on getting a second opinion to better understand their options.
“Our only option for me to carry another baby would be a donor egg,” Mina Starsiak says.
Starsiak said that she has been sharing her IVF journey in the hopes of helping other women going through their own fertility struggles. In addition to sharing details about her IVF process, she has also been open about getting acupuncture to aid in fertility and getting an HSG test which is an examination of a women’s uterus and Fallopian tubes.
“I’ve been sharing my fertility ride publicly bc of the thousands of messages from women it’s helping…but I never anticipated what I would do if it wasn’t successful,” she wrote on Instagram. “That option hadn’t even entered my mind.”
Though they were going through a difficult time, Starsiak shared via social media that she and Hawk spent the holidays surrounded by family.
“It’s poorly planned, hectic, stressful and I wouldn’t change it or trade my people for anyone in the world,” she wrote on Instagram over the holidays. “I hope you love your crazy as much as I do this year, and all the years. #rideordies”
When I’m not hanging out with my three-year-old and husband in Brooklyn, I’m busy writing stories for Mamas Uncut and managing PR + Marketing for Magnolia Bakery, based in New York City. On weekends, you can usually find me at a local park or playground pushing my daughter on the swings, “researching” the best almond croissants in Park Slope or launching into impromptu family dance parties at home, the sidewalk or, every once in awhile, a restaurant bathroom. I’m still trying to master the whole parenting thing, but I have learned that copious amounts of coffee, humor and humility are involved on a daily basis.
Mamas Uncut is the place for moms online. We cover the latest news around motherhood and parenting, plus entertainment news as well – all with a mom-focused twist. Looking for parenting advice?
