Mom of American-Born Son Reveals Last Text She Received From Him Before Being Captured By Hamas

On October 7, Hamas terrorists invaded Israel. One of the group’s biggest targets was a music festival attended by thousands of people from all over the world.

Over the last 2 days, thousands have gone missing and hundreds have been killed as horrific videos and photos revealed scenes of unexplainable torture.

Now as pictures of those missing go viral, parents and family members alike are doing their best to capture the world’s attention, looking for any sort of help and answers as to what happened to their loved ones.

One mom, identified as Rachel Golberg, is doing just that. Rachel’s son is 23-year-old American-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin. Hersh was attending the festival when he sent two texts to his mom during the morning hours of October 7.

“There were two texts in a row from Hersh at 8:11,” Rachel explained, as Fox News reports. “The first one said, ‘I love you.’… also, it said, ‘I’m sorry’. And so I knew immediately, wherever he was, it was a terrible situation.”

When asked what she thought her son’s texts meant, Rachel said, “I took it to mean I love you and I’m sorry because whatever is going to happen is going to cause you tremendous pain and worry.”

Since those two texts, Rachel has not heard from Hersh since. “Since that time, I, of course, tried calling him right back. There was no answer. I texted him a couple of times. Are you okay? I’ve not heard from him since the text I received at 8:11 on Saturday morning.”

Although it’s unclear how Rachel confirmed reports of what may have happened to her son, Rachel said she has been able to talk to witnesses. Some of those witnesses claimed that Hersh attempted to take cover in a bomb shelter after getting caught in the middle of gunfire.

Rachel was told that her son “ended up losing his arm from the elbow down.” Rachel was then told that “Hamas came in after the gunfire settled down and said anyone who can walk, stand up and walk out.”

“We are told that he was completely calm. I think he was probably in shock. And he got up and he walked out with five other people, young people from the music festival, two young women, three other young men,” Golberg continued.

“They were put on a pickup truck and driven away by Hamas. Then the police told us one thing they knew is that the last known cell signal from his phone was on the border with Gaza.”

Out of the hundred known deaths, reports have shared that at least 11 Americans have died after being taken hostage by Hamas.

According to KTVU, Hersh was born in Berkeley, California. He had moved to Israel in 2008.
