Mom Makes Toddler Look Like a ‘Sasshole’ on Picture Day, the Photo Is a Blessing

Paige Ward is a 29-year-old working mother of four in Oklahoma. Her youngest, Emma is just 2-year-old but the toddler has a zest for life and an outsized character. There’s a picture to prove it!

Ward spoke with BuzzFeed News recently about her daughter, who has “been a shining light for the family since she was born, and that she has a hilarious personality.” Emma’s penchant for sass motivated a family friend to make the little girl a T-shirt that says “SASSHOLE.” While Ward was pleased by the gesture, she explained that her daughter had only worn the shirt a few times. Then, picture day happened.

Paige Ward, who works long hours at an urgent care clinic, accidentally sent her daughter to school with a weird shirt for picture day.

The pandemic has upended many of our lives and like the rest of us, Paige Ward has had to work harder than ever to make ends meet. Recently, he had just finished a 60-hour work week at an urgent care clinic when she woke up to take her daughter to school.

“I woke up that morning exhausted and grabbed the first thing out of her closet I could see, which happened to be the famous ‘sasshole’ shirt,” she told BuzzFeed.

After arriving at the school, Ward said her fiancé pointed out what he thought was camera equipment outside the school, but she didn’t think anything of it because she had not been notified about a picture day.

Two days later, Emma’s father dropped her off at Ward’s home along with photo proofs. After seeing the proofs, Ward she became “hysterical.”

She said she thought, Oh my god. Everyone is going to think I’m a horrible mother. How could I do this?

“But the entire time I was dying laughing because it just fits Emma’s personality and 2020 so well,” Ward added.

After the shock wore off, Ward decided to turn her “mom fail” into a TikTok video which she had recently begun playing around with. She uploaded the video and it quickly went viral. People thought the mistake was just too relatable and hilarious.

While the overwhelming amount of comments on the video were sympathetic and positive, still some took issue with the T-shirt being “inappropriate” for a toddler. In response, Ward created a couple of videos just for the “Karens.”

Ward told BuzzFeed that she never expected for the video to blow up as it did, but that she’s pleased for the rest of the world to meet her joyful daughter. She explained that Emma always makes the family laugh even when times are tough.

“Through the pandemic, we have been struggling to make ends meet, and this was just the comedic relief we have been needing,” she told the outlet. “Since Emma has been born, she has been the light through all the darkness.”

We love Emma’s energy and this mom’s sense of humor. That little girl is destined for greatness, no doubt. We’re living through strange times and to see an honest mistake become a hilarious mini-phenomenon is just what we needed to see today. We’d also very much love our very own “sasshole” shirt. Emma’s not only a comedic genius, but she’s also a style icon.
