Mr. Mayor

Created by Tina Fey, this comedy series follows Neil Bremer (Ted Danson), a wealthy man who runs for mayor of LA and wins. Once he assumes office, he realizes he needs to earn the regard of his staff (Holly Hunter), figure out what his platform even is, and bond with his teenage daughter, all while making sure the city doesn’t destroy itself. Basically, you can expect to laugh a lot while watching this goofy series.

When it premieres: Jan. 7 on NBC

WandaVision

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) find themselves living ubiquitous suburban lives. However, they can’t remember where they came from or how they even got there. Once they travel through the decades and various, classic TV tropes, they begin to realize that things aren’t quite as “normal” as they seem. Come for Elizabeth Olsen and stay for Kathryn Hahn who plays her delightful, quirky neighbor.

When it premieres: Jan. 15 on Disney+

Fate: The Winx Saga

Remember the iconic Winx Club characters you grew up with, except now they’re darker and sharper than ever. The series follows five fairies as they come of age while attending Alfea, a magical school in the Otherworld. As the series progresses, they must all learn to understand their powers, fight the evil monsters that torment their loved ones, and manage to have a normal teenage social life. This show is full of teen drama and action. The show stars Abigail Cowen, Danny Griffin, and Hannah van der Westhuysen.

When it premieres: Jan. 22 on Netflix

The Equalizer

The legendary Queen Latifah plays Robyn McCall, a divorced single mother who’s also a vigilante fighting for justice — AKA she’s The Equalizer. This series is a reimagining of the 1980s drama and it’ll be just as fulfilling as the original!

When it premieres: Feb. 7 on CBS

Firefly Lane

Spanning over three decades, Firefly Lane tells a story of just how powerful friendship can be. Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) meet in 1974 and vow to remain best friends forever. This series follows Tully and Kate throughout their lives as they deal with love, loss, and adolescence. Firefly Lane is a perfect pick for fans of Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias

Clarice

This series takes place in 1991, a year after the events of Silence of the Lambs, and serves as a sequel series to the movie and the book. It follows Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) as she returns to work in Washington, DC, and goes back to her normal life of catching serial killers and sexual predators. If you love crime thrillers, this one will not disappoint.

When it premieres: Feb. 11 on CBS

Superman & Lois

Superman & Lois is the newest series in the Arrow-verse. After years of saving the universe, Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Bitsie Tulloch) return to embark on their most challenging adventure yet… parenthood. Throughout the series, we’ll watch Clark and Lois take on the roles of working parents while also figuring out whether or not their sons will inherit Clark’s superpowers. The town of Smallville is about to get very hot.

When it premieres: Feb. 23 on The CW

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Following the results of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) team up to defeat an anarchist organization called the Flag-Smashers. This series will also explore the aftermath of Captain America’s death and Sam’s decision to remain as Falcon after Captain America gives him the iconic shield.

When it premieres: March 19 on Disney+

Shadow and Bone

Based on the young adult fantasy book series of the same name, Shadow and Bone follows Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), a young soldier who might’ve discovered the power to save her country. As she grapples with how to use her new magic, thugs, thieves, and assassins all begin to grow stronger and wage a war. This series is dark, magical, and a perfect fit for any lover of YA fantasy.

When it premieres: April 2021 on Netflix

Loki

Loki lovers you’re in luck! After Loki (Tom Hiddleston) steals the Tesseract during Avengers: Endgame, he’s arrested and brought to the Time Variance Authority (the TVA). Throughout the series, we get to watch Loki in a crime thriller of his own, as he uses the Tesseract to alter history and screw up the timeline.

The Nevers

The Nevers is about a group of Victorian women (Laura Donnelly and Olivia Williams) who find out they’ve been cursed with wildly odd powers. Throughout the series, they use those powers against their never-ending list of enemies and fight to change the world. This series is an epic sci-fi adventure you won’t want to miss.

When it premieres: Summer 2021 on HBO

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel follows Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old seemingly normal Pakistani girl from New Jersey. She’s obsessed with the Avengers, Captain Marvel, especially, and she wishes of being a superhero herself. After one very wild journey, she gains shape-shifting powers. Disney has also confirmed that in addition to Iman Vellani playing Kamala in this series, she will also be playing her in Captain Marvel 2, which is set to come out in 2022. Become an early fan!

Hawkeye

Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton in Hawkeye and mentors a young, fresh superhero named Kate Bishop, who’s played by Hailee Steinfeld. This series also takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame as he trains Kate to become the new Hawkeye. During the show, we’ll also get a more in-depth story behind the dark assassin identity Clint became between Infinity War and Endgame. Florence Pugh is also set to guest star in the series, where she’ll reprise her Black Widow role, Yelena.

The Book of Boba Fett

The next Star Wars installment series is just about here. Temuera Morrison returns as the sleek bounty hunter Boba Fett. This show will take place during the same timeline as The Mandalorian. Robert Rodriguez, the director of Chapter 14 of The Mandalorian, will also serve as one of the show’s executive producers.

When it premieres: December 2021 on Disney+

Nine Perfect Strangers

Based on the Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies) novel of the same name, this miniseries will follow nine strangers (Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, and Regina Hall to name a few) who embark on a 10-day wellness retreat. As the trip goes on and the characters start to learn more about each other and their issues, the strangers begin to second-guess the real purpose of this retreat. This series is a perfect pick for fans of Big Little Lies, The Undoing, and Little Fires Everywhere.

Behind Her Eyes

Behind Her Eyes is also based on the book of the same name. This psychological thriller follows a single mom named Louise (Simona Brown), who meets David and his wife Adele, as she becomes totally tangled in their messy marriage and all the difficulties that come along with it.

The Underground Railroad

Moonlight creator Barry Jenkins has made his first television series, called The Underground Railroad. This series is one that we are most excited about! It’s an adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s novel of the same name, in which an alternate history, the Underground Railroad was a literal railway used by slaves in the 19th century. The limited series will follow a young woman named Cora (Thuso Mbedu) as she escapes the South, looking for the rumored and metaphorical Underground Railroad, only to find an actual network of tracks and tunnels beneath the earth.

Gossip Girl

This Gossip Girl reboot takes place almost a decade after the original series and shows just how different teenage life and technology has changed. This series exists in the same universe as the original Gossip Girl, and these new characters will know Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf — which hopefully also leaves room for some iconic cameos. Because the series will appear on HBO Max, you can expect more spice than the original.

Girls5Eva

Girls5Eva is another series produced by Tina Fey, so we already know it’ll be good. It’s about a one-hit-wonder ’90s girl group who decide to reunite and try to become pop icons again. Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, Busy Philipps, and Ashley Park will surely delight in this upcoming dream of a show.

Midnight Mass

Haunting of Hill House fans, eat your heart out. Mike Flanagan is at it again with another supernatural horror series for Netflix. Midnight Mass is about a insular island community that starts to experience supernatural events after a new priest arrives in town. Haunting fans will also recognize favorites like Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, and Henry Thomas in the upcoming series!

Young Rock

Young Rock will tell the origin story of professional wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The series will travel through three different eras of The Rock’s life from 10 years old to 15 years old and 20 years old with different actors (Bradley Constant, Uli Latukefu, and Adrian Groulx) playing the icon. And while he won’t be playing himself on screen, Dwayne will still be serving as the show’s narrator.

Foundation

Foundation is an adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s (I, Robot) trilogy of the same name. The show is about The Foundation, “a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it.” It follows a complex saga of all the humans (Jared Harris and Lee Pace) scattered on planets throughout the galaxy. This series has also been years in the making, with numerous writers and networks grappling to take on the epic, but only just becoming fruitful in recent years. We are excited to see this one finally come out!

Inventing Anna

Inventing Anna is Shonda Rhimes’ newest miniseries for Netflix. It’s based on the astonishing story behind the New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People.” Julia Garner will lead the show as Anna, the woman who pretended to be a wealthy German heiress. Shondaland alums Katie Lowes and Jeff Perry are also set to appear in this series. Shonda will also be writing Inventing Anna, which will make it her first writing credit since the Scandal series finale! If the success of Bridgerton is any indication, we expect this next entry from Rhimes to do well on Netflix.

Y: The Last Man

Y: The Last Man is based on a popular comic by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, it tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world where every mammal with a Y chromosome is destroyed, except for one man (Ben Schnetzer) and his pet monkey. The show will revolve around the characters that are left on Earth as they try to restore everything they lost and get back to some sort of normal life.

American Horror Stories

This Ryan Murphy spinoff will be a creepy episodic anthology series, where each episode will be a totally different narrative. Imagine Black Mirror with a dash of American Horror Story. Sixteen new episodes have already been announced, and they’ll be “delving into horror myths, legends and lore.” And while the cast hasn’t been announced quite yet, Ryan Murphy has already assured fans that their AHS alums will be returning.
