Fans of Nicole Kidman might be surprised to know “The Big Little Lies” star has given a rare insight into her faith and how she’s raising her two younger children.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair the actress discussed her spirituality and Catholic upbringing.
She said when it comes to raising her two daughters, 10-year-old Sunday and 8-year-old Faith, with husband, country star Keith Urban, faith plays an important role in her family.
Nicole Kidman revealed in the cover story for the magazine:
“A lot of my friends tease me.”
But the celeb mom said she still has a strong belief in God and she’s raising her younger daughters in church.
In fact, the family of four attends church as a family. She said:
“That’s how we are raising our children. Keith has his own beliefs but he comes, too.
I had a very Catholic grandmother, and I was raised praying, so that had massive impact. I wouldn’t say it’s absolutism, there’s constant questioning — I’m a willful, feisty girl. For me it’s very important that I don’t have judgment. My dad would always say, ‘Tolerance is the most important thing.'”
This isn’t the first time the actress has opened up about her religion, in 2018 she told Allure she thought about becoming a nun before finding a career in acting.
In the same Vanity Fair interview, Kidman also talked about breaking with convention when it comes to parenting.
Nicole Kidman covers Vanity Fair, talks parenting methods.
The star opened up about her kids not having phones or Instagram and said it may make her an unpopular mom at times, but Kidman explained the logic behind her decision:
“I try to keep some sort of boundaries.”
Despite being a huge celebrity the 51-year-old actress and her husband, Urban, have decided to keep their home life simple.
Kidman also shares two adult children with ex-husband Tom Cruise, son Connor, 24, and daughter Isabella, 26.
The Hollywood mom said she’s doing her best to keep her children grounded.
