Pete Davidson Officially Charged With Reckless Driving After Crashing Into Beverly Hills Home in March

It has been more than three months since Pete Davidson crashed his Mercedes-Benz into a Beverly Hills home and we are one step closer to learning what his punishment will be. On Friday (June 16), the 29-year-old comedian/actor was officially charged with one count of reckless driving in Los Angeles.

The charge was filed by the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office and, according to TMZ, can carry a ‘sentence of up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, and a knock on your driver’s license.’ The outlet had an opportunity to speak with the District Attorney’s Office and they’re happy to know no one was injured.

The spokesperson went on to discuss how ‘traffic fatalities in Los Angeles have reached the highest levels seen in 20 years’ – calling it an alarming trend that can’t be ignored. “As a result, it’s crucial that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable,” they told TMZ.

TMZ also had an opportunity to catch up with the homeowner, who doesn’t plan on suing Pete Davidson and is more or less just happy his family is safe. He did, however, say his 16-year-old daughter was ‘a bit’ traumatized following the crash, but she’s doing much better now and they’ve apparently moved on.

The infamous crash occurred on March 4 at around 11 p.m. – he was driving the vehicle and his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, was sitting passenger. They were traveling at a high speed through The Flats in Beverly Hills. At some point, while driving down a residential road, Davidson lost control of his vehicle.

Davidson’s vehicle proceeded to hop a curb, take out a fire hydrant, and crash into the side of a nearby home – the vehicle left skid marks across the homeowner’s lawn. Luckily, no one was injured and his vehicle didn’t completely go into the property. Photos revealed minor damage to the side of the home.

When police arrived on the scene, they determined drugs and alcohol didn’t play a part in the accident – Davidson wasn’t arrested or cited at the time. Now three months later, we know he could be facing up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine after being charged with one count of reckless driving – we shall see.

Pete Davidson and Girlfriend Were in Hawaii Earlier That Day

When TMZ first reported the crash on March 5th, they couldn’t help but marvel at the fact the couple was in LA at the time of the crash. The outlet noted how both Pete Davidson and his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, were photographed in Hawaii earlier that day – a plane ride to LA would’ve taken five hours.

The couple made the most of their time and were seen frolicking along the beach and packing on the PDA for all to see. It was quite a wild Saturday for Pete, who had also presented an award at the Kids Choice Awards 2023 earlier that night – the show started at 4 p.m. and ended sometime before 6 p.m..

Nonetheless, the couple is still going strong roughly six months after they sparked dating rumors. On Friday (June 16), a source told PEOPLE that Pete ‘really cares for her’ and ‘thinks she’s just the best.’ While he admits he’s taking it slow with this relationship, there’s clearly something good between them.
