Khloe Kardashian just celebrated her 38th birthday on June 27. In honor of the milestone, we decided we’d take a look back at Khloe through the years to show just how far she’s come. She became a real standout on Keeping Up with the Kardashians with many fans falling for her incredible sense of humor and her ability to tell it like it is to her sisters and other members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. From Reality TV to Motherhood, Here Is Khloe Kardashian’s Journey Through the Years.

Khloe on KUWTK

In October of 2007, Keeping Up with the Kardashians premiered. The show became a huge hit in no small part because of Khloe who kept it as real as real gets. Ultimately, KUWTK became one of the longest-running reality TV series ever. There were a total of 20 seasons of the show and just shy of 300 episodes. That’s a whole lot of Kardashian.

Khloe’s Arrest

Khloe was arrested for driving under the influence in March 2007. She turned herself over to authorities in July 2008 after violating her parole. She managed to sidestep her maximum 30-day jail sentence when she was released following less than three hours in custody due to overcrowding. Talk about a lucky break!

Kim Kardashian famously took selfies during the car ride as Kris Jenner scolded her daughter, “Would you stop taking pictures of yourself? Your sister’s going to jail.” We’re glad that Kim always keeps it at 100 as well. Thankfully, that’s the only real run-in with the law that Khloe seems to have had.

The Many Spinoffs of Khloe

Then, in 2009, it was time for a number of spinoff series starring Khloe. She appeared in a variety of Keeping Up With the Kardashians spinoffs, including 2009’s Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, 2011’s Khloe & Lamar, and 2014’s Kourtney and Khloe Take The Hamptons. Unfortunately, not many of Khloe’s spinoffs remained on the air past one season.

Khloe Kardashian Ties the Know with Lamar Odom

Khloe fans watched her marry Lamar Odom in September 2009 after a whirlwind romance that only spanned the course of a single month. Unfortunately, she filed for divorce from the basketball player in December 2013. Plenty of drama followed the decision to split.

Khloe filed for divorce from Odom after four years of marriage. The couple was estranged for months before legal action due to his drug use and infidelity. “She flip-flopped several times, but she can’t imagine having kids with someone who refuses to seek help for his [addiction],” a source told Us at the time.

She put the proceedings on hold in October 2015 because the athlete fell into a coma following an overdose in a Nevada brothel. Khloe filed the papers again in May 2016, and they finalized the divorce in December 2016. It was an exercise in doing the right thing for someone even though their relationship ended. She could have washed her hands clean of Odom but instead, she showed maturity, kindness, and grace.

Kocktails With Khloe, a talk show on FYI, debuted in January 2016, hosted by the reality TV personality. The show ran for one season. Many members of the Kardashian-Jenner family appeared on the show along with other celebrities like Lisa Rinna, Carmen Electra, and Taye Diggs.

Khloe Finds Love Again

Khloe moved on from Odom to Tristan Thompson in 2016. Shortly after the couple started publicly seeing one another, they dropped a huge bomb about the next step in their relationship. Put a pin in that as we will get to more details of their partnership a little further as this piece continues.

Khloe Breaks Into the Fashion Industry

The reality star founded the denim line Good American with Emma Grede. The collection made $1 million in sales on its launch day and focused on body-positive sizing. As the brand took off, it later expanded into athleisure and other types of clothing.

Khloe’s Revenge Body

Khloe then hosted an E! series called Revenge Body that showed her assisting in makeovers alongside personal trainers and stylists. The show debuted after she went through her own transformation, losing 30 lbs. following her split from Odom.

In September 2017, Khloe revealed that she and Thompson were expecting their first child together. It would be Khloe’s first baby. It was amid a big Kardashian-Jenner baby boom. While Khloe and Thompson eventually split in February 2019, they reunited in August 2020. Over one year later, they called it quits again in June 2021. Even though they have split, they have remained adoring of one another.

Rumors Never Stopped Swirling About Khloe and Thompson

Thompson agreed to be Khloe’s sperm donor in an April 2020 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Rumors that the exes were expecting their second child together were all over the place. Khloe shut down all that gossip, reminding fans that her life was her own.

Khloe Says Goodbye to the Blond

In May of 2020, Khloe surprised fans with a dramatic new look. She had shaken off her signature blond and decided to go bronde. Her new look was a breath of fresh air amid those surreal quarantine days. The image marked yet another phase of Khloe’s transformation through the years.

Khloe Speaks Out

In April of 2021, Khloe opened up after an unwanted photo of her started to circulate online. She went on to describe how she feels we could all benefit from being in full control of how images are distributed online.

“Hey guys, this is me and my body unretouched and unfiltered,” Khloe wrote on Instagram next to a video of herself nearly nude in front of a mirror. “The photo that was posted this week was beautiful. But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working so hard to get it to this point — and then shares it to the world — you should have every right to ask for it not to be shared — no matter who you are.”

Khloe also shared that she felt “pressure, constant ridicule and judgment” from online commentators. “‘Khloé is the fat sister,'” she recalled being told. “‘Khloé is the ugly sister.’ ‘Her dad must not be her real dad because she looks so different.’ ‘The only way she could have lost that weight must have been from surgery.’ Should I go on?”

Khloe also said that she loves “a good filter, good lighting and an edit here and there,” but said she wouldn’t apologize for anything she posts. “My body, my image, and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice,” she clarified. “It’s not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable anymore.”

After Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired its final episode, in June of 2021, the whole Kardashian family sat down with Andy Cohen for a two-part reunion special. During the show, Khloé confessed to having had a nose job but no other plastic surgery. “I’ve had one nose job, Dr. Raj Kinodia, and everyone gets so upset, like, ‘Why don’t I talk about it?’”

In the interview, she claimed that no one had asked her about what specific procedures she’d undergone before. “No one’s ever asked me,” she went on. “You’re the first person in an interview that’s ever asked me about my nose. I’ve done, sure, injections — not really Botox. I’ve responded horribly to Botox.”

As you might expect, Kim’s words about work really stirred the pot. “I wish I was born rich so I could be self-made,” one person Tweeted in reply.

“I was an editor on the Kardashian apps in 2015 in LA, worked days nights & weekends, could only afford groceries from the 99 Cents Only Store, called out “sick” more than once bc I couldn’t put gas in my car to get to the office, & was reprimanded for freelancing on the side,” another person shared.

Kim’s 2022 Met Gala Dress

“I am so honored to be wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy,” she shared about the dress. No problems there! People did not take issue with the dress at all but they did catch Kim’s comments about losing 16 pounds to fit into it and that’s when folks got mad.

“It was such a challenge, it was like a role. I was determined, I was determined to fit in it,” she told Vogue, later adding, “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”

One fellow celebrity took issue with her comments. Lili Reinhart  posted a now-deleted message on social media about it. “To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting.”

In an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim looked at Kourtney’s pregnancy stretchmarks and exclaimed, “This is, like, my biggest fear of life.” Apparently, she was not really kidding about it because she would go on to have her own stretchmarks removed. We think it’s safe to say that most people have a lot more to worry about than their stretchmarks.

Kim on Laser Hair Removal

All of the Kardashians are outspoken about their Armenian heritage. It’s good to be proud of your roots and to learn more about the culture your family is from. No problem, great stuff! It was when referenced her Armenian heritage as reasoning for laser hair removal that rubbed folks the wrong way. “I’m Armenian, so of course, I’m obsessed with laser hair removal,” she said. There is a stereotype that people of Eastern European descent tend to have more hair, so it looks like the Kardashian sister was relying on that assumption when she made the remark. Naturally, it angered others of Armenian descent who did not share Kim’s “obsession.”

Kim’s Apology That Made Things Worse

In 2017, Kim shared an image of herself on Snapchat dressed as late singer Aaliyah for Halloween. People responded by claiming that the costume was “offensive.” Kim read the comments and decided to issue an apology following the incident. “Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend. I saw online that some people thought my costume was in poor taste and I am truly sorry if that offended anyone,” Kim shared on her website. “We don’t see color in my home. We were paying homage to people and artists we love and respect — it’s that simple!”

There’s been a lot written and said about the fault in saying “I don’t see color” as a reference to being racially “colorblind.” Most scholars agree that it is a way to avoid actually discussing racial inequality and how each of us plays a role in persisting it if we are not honest about those hard truths.

In yet another instance of potential cultural appropriation and definitely misnaming a hairstyle, Kim wore braids that she referred to as “Bo Derek braids,” in a video she uploaded to Snapchat in 2018. Critics were quick to note that the braids did not originate with Bo Derek wearing them in the 1970s. No, the braids are called Fulani braids and celebrate West African women who originated the style.

Being a parent is weird. We find things cute about our kids that no other human on earth could possibly find attractive. That was definitely the case for Kourtney Kardashian who got a little weird going down memory lane with her child Mason. “I remember one day I was kissing Mason and he spit up in my mouth, and I loved it,” she once admitted. When Khloé’s Khloé With a K app launched in 2015, it featured a video series entitled “Khlo-C-D,” where she showcased her impressive organizational skills. She showed off her pantry, refrigerator, and closet organizational skills in the series. A few years later, in 2018, people with actual OCD began to call her out for the title of the video series, which is, you know, riffing on a very real disorder.

• “I have always been Khlo-C-D — and I have Kris Jenner to thank, LOL. The interesting thing is my mom is a hoarder, but she demands cleanliness and structure from me (and all her kids).”

Kendall Jenner has a very successful and lucrative modeling career and you’d think that all that time on runways and at fashion shows would make you sympathetic to her colleagues, other models. Think again! In a 2018 interview with LOVE magazine, she admitted to being “super selective” about the runway shows she chooses to do and “was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f–k those girls do.” Needless to say, models with fewer means, fortune, and not as much fame took offense as they are simply trying to make a living. Not everyone was born under the Kardashian banner! Surprise!
