Fan Throws Bag of Ashes at Pink During 2023 Pink Summer Carnival Tour: “I Don’t Know How to Feel About This”

On June 24 and June 25, Pink took to Hyde Park in London, England to perform the latest leg of her 2023 Summer Carnival Tour. She was joined by Sam Ryder, Gayle, KidCutUp, and Gwen Stefani, and while it was an exciting and masterful concert, there was one incident that left Pink stunned and clueless.

While singing ‘Just Like a Pill’ from her 2001 Missundaztood album, a fan threw a mysterious bag filled with a powdered substance. She picked the bag up and stared at the fan in confusion – waiting for an explanation. “This is your mom?” Pink asked into the microphone, confirming that it was a bag of ashes.

“I don’t know how to feel about this,” Pink said before carefully and respectfully placing the ashes back on the edge of the stage and continuing on with her performance. Videos of the interaction have surfaced online and many fans are applauding Pink for how she handled the bizarre and awkward fan interaction.

Pink later took to Instagram to share a summary video of her time at Hyde Park and gave a shout-out to those that showed their support. “[Hyde Park] it is the joy of my life to play with all of you. I am never not grateful,” she wrote in the caption – the video or caption had no mention of the awkward fan encounter.

Her latest tour kicked off on June 7 and she was joined by a special guest on-stage – her 12-year-old daughter, Willow Sage. The two performed their song ‘Cover Me in Sunshine’ together and she stole the show with her incredible voice – performing in front of 35,000 people before she was even a teenager.

Pink’s husband, Carey Hart, shared a video of their daughter’s performance on his Instagram. While he wasn’t at the show himself, he did say he was planning on seeing it in-person towards the end of the month. He has plenty of time, considering there are still roughly 50 more shows over the next 9 months.

Pink will conclude the overseas leg of the tour on July 16 with a performance in Toronto, Canada. She’ll take a week off before beginning the US leg of the tour – starting with a July 26 concert in Cincinnati and ending with an October 9 concert in Phoenix before taking a four-month break to celebrate the holidays.

Pink Isn’t the Only One With Bizarre Fan Encounters

For years, artists have had to stand on stage while fans threw miscellaneous items at their feet and, sometimes, directly at them. These items can be as harmless and satisfying as roses, as sexual and promiscuous as a bra, as rude and disgusting as food, and as awkward and bizarre as human ashes.

While Pink is the latest to have such an encounter with a fan while performing, she’s certainly not the first and certainly not the last. Last year, Harry Styles had a fan throw a chicken nugget at him while performing inside Madison Square Garden in NYC. He reacted by reminding the fan he doesn’t eat meat.

More recently, singer Bebe Rexha was hospitalized after one of her fans threw a phone at her while performing on the Rooftop at Pier 17 during the New York leg of her Best F*n Night of My Life tour. She was hospitalized and treated for redness, swelling, and a cut on the eye, and the fan was charged.

Less than 24 hours after the Bebe incident, singer AvaMax faced a similar encounter when a fan rushed the stage and slapped her in the face during a performance in Los Angeles. She later wrote, “He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again” on Twitter.
