A statement released by public information officer Erik Scott reveals more information about the moment they received the 911 call for Matthew Perry.
According to Scott, first responders discovered “an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub.” He confirmed to Fox News that Perry had passed away before paramedics arrived at the scene.
“A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water,” Scott continued in his statement. “A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival.”
“The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner,” he further revealed. “We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly.”
Inside Edition also alleges that just hours before his passing, Matthew Perry was seen playing pickleball with a group of friends. Pickleball had become Perry’s lastest obsession and playing for at least two hours every day.
But according to Inside Edition’s sources, after about an hour of playing that Saturday, Perry told his friends he felt “fatigued” and went home early. At his home, Perry asked his assistant to run a few errands while he soaked in his hot tub. It was when Perry’s assistant returned to his place that he was discovered unresponsive under the water.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has released its preliminary findings in Matthew Perry’s death investigation.
After performing an initial autopsy, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed they are deferring his cause of death pending toxicology results and a further investigation. They also have not shared his manner of death.
Perry passed away at the age of 54 after reports have alleged that Perry reportedly drowned on October 28. He was discovered in his LA home.
While his father, mother, and stepfather were seen at the scene of the tragedy last night, they have also since shared a personal statement to TMZ. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” the statement began.
“Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
TMZ reports that both Suzanne and John were visibly distraught after arriving at the scene.
Perry was reportedly discovered inside his jacuzzi after 911 was made aware of an apparent cardiac arrest, TMZ reported at the time. It has since been reported that it was Perry’s assistant who discovered him in the hot tub.
Additionally, no drugs were found at the scene and foul play is not suspected.

Shortly after, just five days before his passing, Matthew Perry shared his last Instagram post. Hauntingly, the photo he shared showed himself in the hot tub.
“Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman,” he captioned the photo. People are now commenting their condolences in the comments section.

Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends. However, in his recently released memoir, there is a section of the book that is now going viral.
While Friends is something he knows he will be remembered for, he had hopes it wouldn’t be the only thing. Instead, Perry wrote, “When I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if Friends were listed far behind the things I did to try to help other people.”
Some of those things include the Perry House which he established in Malibu. The Perry House is a sober living facility for men.
During that time, Matthew Perry has been open about his battle with substance abuse.
The cast of Friends has also shared a joint statement, exclusively with People. The statement signed by Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer read:
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
The statement continued, “In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
