Prince George & Princess Charlotte Had The Most Adorable First Day Of School

Summer vacation has officially come to an end for Princess Charlotte and Prince George! The two headed back to school on Thursday. Prince George was returning to familiar territory — he’s been at Thomas’s Battersea, an exclusive London private school, for the past two years. But for Princess Charlotte, Thursday was full of first-day of new school jitters.

The royal couple shared a few snaps from the momentous first day on their Instagram. The first picture posted features the whole family, while a second video post shows the family walking into the schoolyard and greeting the headmistress. A third image shows the Prince and Princess on the steps of Kensington Palace before heading to school. And we’re sorry, but could the brother-sister pair be any cuter with their arms wrapped around each other?

Two years earlier, Charlotte posed on the same Kensington Palace steps for a pic before beginning her first day of school at The Wilcoxs Nursery School.

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge looked happy and relaxed as they arrived to drop off the little royals for their first day. Prince William drove the family to the school, arriving at a side entrance around 8:15 AM. A small group of journalists were invited to cover the sweet moment for the family.

It was Princess Charlotte’s first day at Thomas’s Battersea; for the past few years she has attended a private nursery school. The school is conveniently located near the family’s Kensington Palace home and has approximately 560 students between the ages of 4-13. Annual tuition costs about $23,000, though Princess Charlotte would receive a siblings discount of around 2 percent.

For Kate, we’re sure this was a particularly special day, as she was unable to attend Prince George’s first day. She was newly pregnant with Prince Louis at that time and suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a pregnancy complication that causes severe nausea and vomiting. Luckily, Prince William was able to make the day special for a then four-year-old George.

The proud parents walked Charlotte and George across the parking lot before being greeted by the head of the lower school, Helen Haslem. Haslem shook hands with the parents, before bending down to greet the kids.

Princess Charlotte appeared a bit shy in some of the photos, perhaps nervous about her first day at a new school. Duchess Kate and Prince William walked Princess Charlotte to her classroom to meet her teacher and the other 20 students in her class.

This year, Princess Charlotte’s packed schedule includes French, computing, art, music, drama and ballet, according to the The Daily Express. To start, she will only be attending half day.

Older brother Prince George, 6, began his second and last year in the lower school. Next year, he will be attending the middle school.
