Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Make Shocking Decision to Relocate from Canada to Los Angeles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the move again! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are calling Los Angeles home now after leaving North Saanich on Vancouver Island shortly after Christmas.

While the couple had planned on relocating to the commonwealth of Canada permanently after announcing their plans to step away from their royal duties in January, they’ve now decided to move to Markle’s hometown with their 10-month-old son Archie.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to LA days before the US border with Canada was closed.

According to reporting from People, “They have been living in a secluded compound and haven’t ventured out amid the coronavirus pandemic.”

The move isn’t a complete shock to people who know the couple. Markle’s got a network of friends and family in Los Angeles that would all be helpful in caring for her Archie. Markle’s mother Doria Ragland lives in LA and works as a social worker and yoga instructor. We imagine she’s one of the Duchess’ main draws to the city.

Meghan Markle has many friends and family in Los Angeles.

Further, Markle’s many friends including Priyanka Chopra, the Clooneys and Janina Gavankar have homes and spend time in Los Angeles.

“Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family,” a source told People. “They will be spending time in California…He’s not looking back.”

The Duke and Duchess are not looking back and plan on raising their family privately.

The news of the move comes on the heels of the announcement of Disney’s Elephants which is narrated by Markle and will be released in early April. It’s unclear whether Markle will continue to do voiceover work for Disney, but the move to LA makes us think it’s a possibility.

The President tweeted about the reported move by the couple to Los Angeles.

The relocation didn’t seem too terribly controversial, but it did make news after President Trump took to Twitter to tweet about it. Even in the midst of managing a National Emergency and crisis response, the President found time to weigh in on the couple’s plans to move.

The president tweeted, “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

He’s referring to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or RCMP protection the couple had gotten in Canada. Because Canada is a commonwealth of the British Empire, the Duke and Duchess received security protection from the Canadian authorities.

The Duke and Duchess released a statement explaining their security plans.

According to the president’s twitter account, the couple will not be afforded the same protections in the United States.

The couple released a statement that read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

The couple’s royal duties end on March 31 and they’ll become private citizens on April 1.

As part of the planned stepdown by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their royal duties will fully end and they’ll transition to being private members of the public on April 1.

Although it’s a strange time around the world, we’re excited about this new development from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Both are talented and care deeply about humanitarian causes and charity. They’ll definitely be welcomes by their friends, family, and fans in Los Angeles. Welcome home!
