As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on April 9 at the age of 99. According to a statement issued by the Royal family, Philip passed away peacefully following multiple hospitals stays as a result of different health issues.
And while each member of the Royal family has yet to issue personal statements regarding his passing, it is being reported that two of his granddaughters have honored him through the names of the children they recently welcomed into the world.
As Mamas Uncut reported, within just weeks of each other, Philip and the Queen’s granddaughters, Zara Tindall and Princess Eugenie gave birth to sons. And they chose to honor their beloved grandfather when choosing their monikers.
According to the Insider, Eugenie—who gave birth on February 9—named her son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. And Zara—who gave birth to her third child in March—named her son, Lucas Philip Tindall. Sadly, according to the Insider, Philip was unable to meet his two great-grandsons, who will now carry on his name.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Use Website to Speak Out Following Prince Philip’s Passing
Additionally, shortly after news broke of Philip’s passing, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle changed the homepage of the official website for their non-profit, Archewell, to pay tribute to Harry’s grandfather’s life. “In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021,” the homepage reads. “Thank you for your service… You will be greatly missed.”
Philip’s passing also comes in the midst of a tiff between Harry, Meghan, and the rest of the Royal family. Following a tell-all interview with Oprah, Meghan and Harry made multiple bombshell claims about raise, mental health, and other issues they faced while active working members of the Royal family.
It’s unclear if the couple were able to speak too and work through their problems since the interview aired and prior to Philip’s passing.
