Do you like watching horse races? Do some of you may be even enjoy putting a few bucks on those racehorses? While I may not be a diehard race fan, one of my favorite parts of horse racing is listening to some of the, let’s be honest, crazy racehorse names these owners come up with.
From female to male, these names don’t discriminate, and these are 26 of our favorite. So whether you’re a Rags To Riches fan or a Flat Drunk, which is your favorite racehorse name?

According to Britannica, “This 18th-century horse got his unusual name either through a bit of misunderstanding or a bit of mischief. His owner asked the stable boy to write the horse’s name—Potatoes—on his stall door (or feed bin, depending on the tale). The boy diligently wrote “Pot” followed by “8 o’s.” The owner liked the name so much that the horse was registered with it.”

The only American triple crown winner who has never lost a game! You definitely don’t have to justify this name!

Rags to Riches
Girl power! She was the first mare to ever win the Belmont stakes! Now, this is a racehorse name!
War Admiral
He was one of the most successful racehorses to win the triple crown. As a result, he also won 21 out of the 26 races he ran and was named 1937’s horse of the year.
Ghostzapper
The racehorse name may be weird, but this horse has earned over $3 million in winnings! Impressive!
Gallant Fox
At the age of 3, he won 9 out of his 10 races that year to become America’s second triple crown winner.
Commando
He is among the most famous of the racehorses to date! And as his racehorse name reveals, he just loves being free!
Lady’s Secret
Known as one of the best female racehorses, her racehorse name is true for many ladies.
ARRRRR
We have a feeling the owner of this horse either was a pirate or loved the idea of pirates. ARRRR, mateys?
Black Caviar
Known as one of the best to ever do it! He is undefeated in all 25 races! Furthermore, he was named world champion four years in a row; 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013! We wonder if his treat for all those wins was his racehorse name.

It’s a “genuine risk” to have underestimated this horse in the 80s! See what we did there?
Flying Fox
Not to be confused with Gallant Fox, he was known for being difficult and winning the triple crown.
Citation
He was the first racehorse to ever reach a million dollars in winnings and once one 16 races in a row! Amazing! We are guessing his name is Citation because he runs so fast, he’s breaking the law!
Lava Man
Where do they come up with these names? This horse won 17 races in his life!
I’ll Have Another
He won’t the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness in 2012!
