It was just one month ago that Robert De Niro shocked us all with his latest baby announcement – the 79-year-old revealed that he had welcomed a child with girlfriend Tiffany Chen on April 6. While it’s his first child with Chen, it’s his seventh child overall and first child since welcoming a daughter in 2011.
On Saturday (June 17), PEOPLE magazine caught up with De Niro at the Tribeca Film Festival and asked him about his Father’s Day plans now that he has a newborn in the household. Like most fathers across the world, he kept things simple and said he was ‘just gonna spend it with the kids and all that.’
He also revealed that his six other children haven’t seen the baby yet but they will in the near future – it’s unclear which kids he ended up seeing on Father’s Day, which was celebrated around the world on Sunday (June 18). It’s the first Father’s Day in 10 years that he has a newborn to celebrate it with.

Robert De Niro now has seven children with four different women. In addition to his first with Tiffany Chen, he also shares two kids – Raphael and Drena – with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, twin sons – Julian and Aaron – with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith, and two kids – Elliot and Helen – with ex-wife Grace Hightower.
While his older children have yet to meet the baby, some of De Niro’s co-stars have and everyone seems to be falling in love with her already. “Oh, I saw the baby. Beautiful baby,” said Chazz Palminteri, who stars alongside De Niro in A Bronx Tale (1993) and was at the 30th anniversary screening on June 17.
Katharine Narducci, who played Rosina in the film, hasn’t seen the baby, but spoke highly of De Niro. “I’ve seen him around his kids, and I know his daughter Drena, and they have a beautiful relationship. And I think he’s a great guy, you know, a great dad, a great person — a great human being,” she said.
A Bronx Tale is a coming-of-age crime drama film that was released on September 29, 1993. It’s a special film in De Niro’s arsenal, considering it was his directorial debut. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release, De Niro held a special screening of the film on Saturday (June 17) at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Robert De Niro and Tiffany Chen appear to be happy with their little girl – named Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro – and are excited to watch her grow and develop. And while all of their friends appear to be happy and supportive of the couple, not everyone is on board with De Niro having a baby at such an old age.
In a video posted to Instagram on June 15, Chelsea Handler criticized De Niro (and several other older men who have had children recently). “There’s a new epidemic sweeping the country, and no, it’s not another virus. It’s worse – horny old men who won’t stop spreading their seed,” Handler said in the clip.

More specifically, she called out Robert De Niro, 79, Alec Baldwin, 65, Al Pacino, 83, and Elon Musk, 51 – all of whom have welcomed kids recently. “They cannot stop procreating. Between the four of those guys, they have 32 children,” Handler continued in the clip – calling out De Niro, who has seven kids now.
