Robert Irwin gushed over his sister, Bindi Irwin, and her new role as a mom in a sweet social media post dedicated to her. The wildlife photographer and reality TV star shared a new photo of himself with his big sister for National Siblings Day along with a caption for the photo that sang praises for Bindi.
The photo also shows Bindi’s newborn, Grace Warrior, looking extra cute. It’s clear this photographer has an eye for what matters most.
Robert Irwin Praises Sister, Bindi Irwin, as an ‘Amazing Mum’ for National Siblings Day.
“Happy #NationalSiblingsDay! I’ve got the absolute best sister — Grace definitely has an amazing mum,” Robert Irwin captioned the photo.
The siblings are fond of one another and had a close relationship as evident by an Instagram post that Bindi also shared of the pair as children holding a snake instead of a baby.
“I’m thankful every day that I get to be your sister,” Bindi wrote as a caption for the photo. “Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and light in my life.”
Throughout Bindi’s pregnancy her younger brother might have been more anxious for the new arrival than his sister even.
“I’m checking my phone every chance I get. Every time she calls me I panic and go, ‘Is it time?’ And she’ll go ‘No, it’s not, calm down,’” he told People at the time.
“She’s doing good. She’s ready to go. We are all crossing our fingers. I think it’s going to be any day now. She’s doing great, she’s glowing. She’s getting to the point where she needs this baby out of there now. She’s a very small person with a very big belly at the moment.”
Bindi and her husband, Chandler Powell were married a year to the day that they announced their pregnancy with Grace. Robert actually walked Bindi down the aisle during the ceremony.
Robert told Kelly Clarkson at the time that he “was so incredibly touched when Bindi said, ‘Robert, would you walk me down the aisle?’” He added that he knows their “dad would be so proud of you and we all love you so much. You’re achieving so much, so it’s such an honor, you know.”

Robert’s touching words had host Clarkson and fellow guest, actress Kristen Chenoweth, almost in tears. In an earlier interview with Entertainment Tonight, Irwin said having Robert walk her down the aisle is something she really wants.
“I think that when the time comes and we do get married, I think that for me it will be really important that Robert walks me down the aisle and that’s something I really want to do. Ever since Dad passed away, as a little girl, you always think about your wedding day and I’m always so thankful that Robert is there and he has been such a big part of my life. He’s always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life. […] I think that will make it really special and I think Dad would have wanted that way as well.”
